70 C10 Custom Suspension
Recently purchased a 6 lug disc - disc brake upgrade kit for my 70 C10 Custom stock drum - drum setup. What suspension upgrades should I do while upgrading brakes? I want to keep stock ride height.

Re: 70 C10 Custom Suspension
You will have to change wheels. The stock ones will not fit over the calipers.Replacing worn tie rod ends, ball joints and other suspension parts is also a no-brainer.New shocks and a sway bar would be nice upgrades as would a power booster and a new proportioning valve is also required. The booster will need the proper length rod to activate it.
Just random things I did or have in the works on my disc swap.

Re: 70 C10 Custom Suspension
Thanks PanelDeland. I purchased my kit from CPP and was not aware I had to upgrade wheels. What size wheels are required, 16s or 17s?

Re: 70 C10 Custom Suspension
Check the wheels before you get new ones. I personally have converted to 6 lug discs and had one wheel that fit and one that rubbed. Apparently, GM used slightly differences in wheels over time and there's really no way to tell what you have.
If they do rub (quite likely), there is no need to go to a plus one bigger wheel. Any aftermarket 6 lug wheel will give the clearance you need even at 15 inch size. Aftermarket wheels accommodate disc brakes due to their designed shape.

Like Tx Firefighter said. The cheapest way is to use a Rally from the mid 70's 4X4 truck or a junkyard 6 lug. Here's a pic of one of my rallies.I painted mine in dark grey cause I don't live close enough to Tx to have Firefighter powder coat them.
