filling in the interior cab corners on AD cabs..

how are you guys filling in the gap at the back corners of the cab?

my idea lastnight was to weld on an "extension" of the floor out to meet the outer cab wall.. but use flexible seam sealer to connect the gap to the wall. Im mostly worried about cab and floor flex making it pull the body and putting a wave in the outer panel... but i need to seal off my cab the rest of the way... (keep out noise, fumes, etc.. and keep the AC and heat inside)

That's what I did except I didn't worry about cab flex. Just welded it in.

Me too, spot welds to the corner exterior metal then seam sealer at the joints. I also welded to the floor and door jamb brace. No evidence of metal warpage on the outside.

This link was sent to me by another member,
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...97#post4375697

Its for a Task Force and not a Advance Design truck, but it gave me the answer to my problem. I didnt like the idea of a straight 90* floor to outer sheetmetal joint.
That just showed me the brilliant idea to make a curved piece. so simple, It just made me have one of those "UREKA!" moments.

I guess I will clearify my post a bit more. I made a template just like Orrie's but made it 1/2" bigger and folded the edge over 90 degrees. I then spot welded it to the body. Used seam sealer inside the cab. No problems as of yet but I do have a fleetside so you don't see to much of that area of the cab from the outside, plus I haven't prepped it for paint yet.

I am confused. The thread says "AD trucks" which are 47-55 1st series, but you mention you have a fleetside... which I forget, but I believe the first year was 58(?) I have always wondered why they have this orum with 47-59 all together, when they are obviously different trucks.

I have a TF 59, I assume the procedure would be the same for an AD. Orrie's is a TF as well.

I agree with you about splitting the forum too. It would make searching for specific things a lot easier.

while I kinda agree.. I have to admit, in this case a TF truck thread provided an answer to my AD truck problem.

Yes the AD and TF trucks are different but often the solution concept is the same. I have learned a lot of tips and tricks from the AD projects here. I figure I can post my input and let the original poster decide if he wants to ignore it. Too much information and options are always better then not enough in my opinion. I do not mind the forums being together.
