'69 C20 Longhorn unusual engine

It is a '69 C20 Longhorn with a 6 Cylinder Isuzu Turbo Diesel backed by a 4 Speed Allison automatic transmission. Sounds like an interesting swap. Does anyone have experience with these motors good or bad, cheap or expensive. Not into diesels myself but this is an intersting alternative. Should do well being a P&D service driveline. It was pointed out to me the bed seems to have an issue with the camper. But I'm guessing the cab has a lift to clear the trans.. Thoughts gentlemen?

I'd sure want to understand why the cab and bed are off by several inches before I got involved with it. There might be an easy explanation, but who knows?

I would say they did a body lift to fit the motor, why in the world they did not finish the body lift is crazy or maybe the pic was taken before they lifted the bed to match.

The cab is definitely lifted for clearance reasons. I read something on a swap like this on one of the diesel forums when I was checking a few of the different diesel swaps for these trucks. What I don't understand is why the owner didn't lift the bed to match. Truck looks good, wouldn't mind adding that one to my driveway just for a daily driver and pulling truck. But, as always, the lack of money factor plays in. I would be ditching the camper to put a goose neck attachment in the bed.

Dave, I really think it is a body lift. That Allison is a big case trans.. There does not seem to be underhood height issues, at least not now.

If they did the lift to just clear the tranny they would have been better off to just install a high hump floor pan from a 4wd rather then a body lift.

69GWC.... That Allison trans is much large than what you think. It's got a much larger case then the TH400 and such. If they would have done something like what was done with the "72 K20 Project" thread, it would have been feasible to just put a high hump in and call it a day. Some people just don't have the know how to fabricate things like others resulting in a simpler method. It appears that there was modifications done to the firewall also.

Looking at the pics makes me wonder, is there damage to the driver side of the truck. Got several passenger side pics, but no drivers.

Yeah looks like the fire wall was maybe cut as well, hard to tell in the pix.

I know I would like to have a C30 with a Cummins in it, ole simple 12v with a 5sp, pull a house down and get killer fuel mileage as well.

looks to me that the bed was lifted but the front collapsed. if you look closely the back of the box is in line but not the front
