Window Weatherstrip & Frame Questions

Currently rebuilding my vent windows for my 70, and I'm looking at glass prices. Ive heard people have a hard time with the new glass setting correctly in the frame if the frame is reused, as opposed to buying the new glass with a frame already attached. Opinions?

Also, weatherstrip, who has the best for both windows and doors? I want to drive when it rains!

Do a search for wing window and you will find lots of info. Don't forget to check the 67-72 box.

Re: Window Weatherstrip & Frame Questions

If you need glass, and all the rubber/rebuild parts, I am going to suggest that you give some consideration to buying a complete new wing window assembly. They are expensive, but rebuilding the wing windows is "an adventure" to put it mildly.

Re: Window Weatherstrip & Frame Questions

i rebuilt my wing windows and used a donor window for it. BUT be warned, it is not a very easy simple thing to do. You must by the rivet kit for the rivets that need to be replaced that hold the wing window together. I say not easy only because it it not something that everyone does and you must have some knowledge of working with press rivets.

Re: Window Weatherstrip & Frame Questions

It's not all that bad but don't expect to get showroom finish on the waivers with the punch tool. As far as setting the glass in the channel. Glass setting tape can be had in many thicknesses you may have to play around with it but if you find the right one it sets fine. I ended up doubling mine cause it was a bit thin but it worked great with new glass. A heat gun makes it much easier!
