My personal opinion is this one of the best places on the net if not the best for information on out style trucks.

Re: whats up with this???

I searched on his id. It appears he posted something in the for sale section and it was deleted by a mod and replaced with the rules.

Re: whats up with this???

Did you post the question in the parts for sale section or the engine and drivetrain section?
This site provides a wealth of info and does have rules. The rules help keep everything organized and makes it easier for people to locate the info they need. My .02

This is one of the best if not the best forum for truck information. I doubt 'tonyj' is upset about the rules being imposed though probably about how the rules were imposed. As yuo can see 'tonyj' is not a chatty member with 66 posts in 5 years so I doubt he paid much attention to the rules or he just made a mistake. Ask yourself, why didn't the mod move the post to the correct forum and also send 'tonyj' the rules as a reminder. Just common everyday customer care. If you went to a parts store and was treated like he was I doubt he would return to do business. The problem here is there are not many places you can go to get all the information and services available. Whats a guy to do? Mostly in life all we want is respect! Well other than being incredibly rich with the perfect family and one of a kind truck

Re: whats up with this???

Tony, the mod did right by the rules. It wasn't the asking for the information that got it edited. It was the wanting the replacement tranny for the c30 that got it edited.

Re: whats up with this???

Tony, sorry you feel that way, but the rules on here are posted for a reason. Maybe there was a miscommunication, if that's the case, simply re-post your question in the appropriate forum. But for you to throw out a general statement bashing the board is bogus. We're all adults here, if we act like it then everyone can get along and get the info they desire and we're all happy.

Re: whats up with this???

Sorry you feel that way Tony, if it was a 700R4 swap to a 350, I could help, but not with the 400 thing. As for the board, it doesn't get any better than this. Sometimes it takes a little while to get an answer to a question, but by and large on here, someone will help you out. Patience is required though. Hope you change your mind, Jeff.

Re: whats up with this???

Alright, since you had trouble before, lets go over what is needed to swap from a TH400 to a 700r4 right here

First, you will need to modify your driveshaft. A TH400 is shorter than a 700r4, and most use a fixed yolk type output. This means that you'll need to have your driveshaft shortened, and you'll need to get the u-join knuckle for the fixed yolk replaced with a slip shaft for the 700r4. Since you'll have a slip shaft, you can also switch to a single peice driveshaft right away, if you so desire.

Next, you'll need to move, and modify your transmission crossmember. I'm not sure which direction it needs to be moved in, but it does need to be moved. This means new holes drilled in the frame in the correct position to bolt the crossmember down. Second, you'll need to drill a new hole in your transmission crossmember for the transmission to sit in. Most TH400s I've seen have two bolts on the transmission mount, while most 700r4s I've seen just have a single bolt inbetween where the two TH400 bolts used to sit.

Next, you'll need to replace the vaccum modulator with a TV cable. This means plugging off the vaccum line at the back of the intake, then buying the required linkage for your carb to install the TV cable. Everyone makes it out to be a very daunting task, but a TV cable is extremely easy to set. You just bolt it on, hook it up, set it to the highest pressure possible (slide to to the back of the engine towards the firewall) then grab the throttle linkage by hand, and open it to wide open throttle. As you do so, the cable should pull forwards towards the front of the engine. Don't use your gas pedal to do this, as the gas pedal cables can stretch, and not get your carb to full wide open throttle.

Last major thing you'll need to figure out is the lockup wiring. You can rob a carburated car or truck of it's tranny lockup system, or buy one from TCI or something. The converter lockup is essential to the tranny, you'll burn it up if it doens't lock up properly.

Of course, there are always little things that a guy might come across, esspecially if you are installing it into an older truck like a 67-72.

The only reason why your post was modified was becuase you posted a wanted ad in it along with the question, which isn't allowed outside of the classified sections.

Re: apology

Ok guys.. lets let it ride.
tony, the site rules changed on Oct 15. It is posted in an announcement on every forum and everyone one the site had to click agree or disagree before posting again after the change. I am sorry you feel this way, and as a long time member hate to see someone upset. The rules changed due to abuse of the site and it sucks, but is yet another reason this site is as good as it is, and stays that way.
