does c-notch on O.G. 2wd 72 lower the value?
just picked up another 2wd blazer and im about to lower it
but i was wondering if the bolt in c-notch would decrease the resell value or be frowned upon buy would be buyers? what are the thoughts? Last edited by duceducenine; 12-31-2010 at 01:43 PM. |

Re: does c-notch on O.G. 2wd 72 lower the value?
Could go either way. There's always a purist somewhere that feels that you shouldn't modify anything right down to the spring clamps on the engine. On the other hand a lot of people buy 2wd blazers because they want to go low. Do the job right and it shouldn't hurt the value. Pull a hack job and sure, the value is going down the toilet.
You can always save the pieces that you cut out of the frame...tell anyone that states the notch is a dealbreaker that they can weld the pieces back in! |

you dog!!!!
good score, I was eyeing her but don't have the funds. Love the six banger with the auto. Are you going to put a small block into her? And if you don't mind telling us, what did you pay for her? You can pm me if you want to keep that private. Good luck with her and keep us updated.

Re: does c-notch on O.G. 2wd 72 lower the value?
Technically if you wanted to go ultra low you should have
bought a 4wd since they can get lower w/ a crossmember swap up front than a 2wd can. But since you didn't my ? would be how low are you wanting to go? You can go 5" springs in the rear with No notch, any lower it's Sawzall. BTW - Congrats on your score, she looks pretty solid EDIT: Oh yea, I have a c-notch, but I'm Not going to do it.

Actually, you can go 6" in the rear with no c-notch... I've never had a problem with it.
I like your trucks, looks like you know what you are doing.. Rg

Boy that's nice want to trade for a 72 2wd with a little rust, i won't charge you anything for the rust, just straight across!? I'd say either way you could find a buyer, some will be cool with it if done right others won't but a guy looking for one layed out and done, wouldn't look at a stocker either so you may turn off some but it will work for others as well?! Mind sharing the price, i like to see what kind of deals are out there, and i'd roll it as it, if it was me, l6 and auto, too sweet!!

I say notch it. Put 4 adults in there with 6" rear springs,... and you'll wish you had a notch.
If I wanted to drive a 2wd at stock height,... I would have just bought a 4x4. The 2wd's are meant to be lowered.

I don't have any opinion on the notch affecting value, but I just wanted to say I love all of your trucks.

Re: does c-notch on O.G. 2wd 72 lower the value?
As it has already been said,,,,Do it right and it shouldn't hurt the value in the least. Even a home built notch would be ok if it is done correctly and looks good.
I've seen a couple bolt in notches that were hacked in and look like a toddler did it,,,,,thats what hurts value. Just my thoughts, Frank

Re: does c-notch on O.G. 2wd 72 lower the value?
Here is my original 2wd with a c notch. The rear will not get any lower than this with out cutting the floor. I say cut it up and while your at it hack up the floor. I wish mine was lower.
