Side markers for '60-'66?

With the change in seasons, and the Sun going down earlier, I am wondering if anyone has added side marker lights/side blinkers to our year's trucks?
The rear bed is nice and flat and several different lights could be mounted there, either flush or proud. The fronts would be easiest to wire if they were mounted in the hood, but the curve of the outer edge doesn't look as easy.
I looked in the FAQs and nothing is noted in the search, except for later models.

Has anyone made this modification?
John

Re: Side markers for '60-'66?

You would get factory side marker lights on the medium duty trucks but could have them installed by the dealer as an accessory on the light duty. Big and chunky however.
Something discrete would look best. There have been pictures of the modification as you describe I've seen , however as a purist I find it takes away from the novelty of how these trucks were originally.
As a long haul driver I can tell you no matter how many lights you put on the side of a truck it will not make a difference on how capable people view your vehicle.

I don't like them but these were installed by previous owner. Notice red backup light lenses that I changed out to clear.

If your worried about being seen better, I would just put LED's in your turn signals\brake lights, new HD flasher and upgrade your headlight harness to one with relays to supply more power.

I put H4 type headlights in and they are super bright with the relay harness that Classic Parts sells ( many just make their own though)

Good luck!

I don't know where I saw it, but someone had used old Mopar marker lights on their truck and I liked it because they were subtle and didn't look out of place.

Re: Side markers for '60-'66?

I'm a fan of those 1968 Mopar lights. I used them on my 67 Chevelle years ago, and had considered them on my truck recently. Ultimately I passed because the illuminated Buick portholes light up the sides in front, and the 59 Cadillac tail lights shine to the sides in the rear. Nice feature of the Mopar markers is they are reproduced, so you don't have to settle for old pitted ones.

Also note there are two types - flat and curved. The flat versions will adapt to just about anything.
