Porterbuilt C Notch question

I am seriously considering notching my 69. Just curious, how much room will the notch add? I have 6" drop springs right now and the axle tube is really close to the frame. (3" or so maybe?) Would I have enough room to add another 1" drop block on top of the arms? What is the depth of the bolt in notch? Any advise or lessons learned about measuring before I cut? I have heard to round off the corners of the cuts to keep the metal from cracking .. just things you guys might know to do. I have never installed one. I'm not afraid to, just looking for insight before I do it. Thanks.

Re: Porterbuilt CNotch question

the porterbuilt c notch is very easy to install - if you have a plasma cutter and a drill it is a piece of cake. i have the mild notch on my truck and it went in very smoothly - i would get his shock relocator kit as well - it is very clean and nice looking - it shouls give you atleast an extra 2" of clearance and it comes with some nice bump stops.

if you have any more questions let me know

Re: Porterbuilt CNotch question

I don't have access to a plasma cutter, can it be cut with a grinder / disc ? I have a very powerful Makita disc grinder, realizing it will take a while longer that way.

I always use a cut-off wheel myself. Even a sawzall or jig saw with a metal blade will do the job.

Re: Porterbuilt CNotch question

thanks Nate! (Talked to you last night, this is Chad Coley)

Can't wait to get it and the shock bar. Do you have PB tshirts? XL Long Sleeve would be cool if you have any. I'll pay / add it to my order is fine.

Thanks.

Re: Porterbuilt CNotch question

I used a grinding wheel on mine and it worked great. Easy to install and I second the shock relocator... Check out my build and you can see the pics I took. I made he mistake of not measuring twice. But it was fixable.

Re: Porterbuilt CNotch question

Ok, cool. thanks for your help guys. I have been wanting to do this for a while and just broke down and PM'ed Nate. I wish I could get everything he makes for these trucks but my fun money just will not allow it right now. Major house projects, possibly International Adoption process, etc. Just doing things a little bit along as the $$ will allow, and trying not to flash the 'plastic' too much

Thanks for your help guys !! I'll post up some pics when I get it installed.

The c-notch is the small two-piece on the left.
The other two are the Level 2 Touring notch and the Level 3 Extreme notch.
I would call or email www.pbfab.com directly.
