Re: questions
Have u tried to talk to the owner and ask him if he wants to sell it? Ask him if it has any problems. Check for rust and throughy give it a test drive if it runs at all.

Re: questions
Ball bearing trans? Is it an auto or a stick? Granny four speed(SM 465) or a regular 4 speed/3 speed?

Re: questions
Wonder what he means by ball bearing. Check the fluids, especially the oil. If its been sitting for a long time I'd drain the oil and change the filter to make sure its ok. Hope he had antifreeze in it to.

Re: questions
No idea what the other owner is talking about with regards to the ball bearings in the tranny...
That said, check that ol' girl for rot under the cab, grab the steering wheel and see if it has any major play in the steering. Shouldn't be able to move it more than 2 - 3 inches in either direction without the wheels moving. Fire the engine up, and watch the oil pressure, make sure its good and strong, all the while listening for any ticking / knocking noises. With the truck sitting around for a while, expect to be buying new tires, and changing a bunch of seals out as soon as you move it. Seals dry out when they arn't use, and dry rot, won't seal back up later on. Make sure the transfercase will shift in and out of 4x4 without any trouble, and make sure the hubs turn easily. If I lived closer to Calgary, I'd swing by and check it out with you, but 3.5 hours is a ways to drive, lol There are a few Calgary members on this forum that know a fair bit about vehicles in general, and I'm sure one of them would be willing to look it over with you. Classicchev (Darren) and Thayer01 (Randy) are two guys who come up right away, dealt with both of them, and both are stand up guys. Darren lives in the South East, while Randy is in the South West, if I remember correctly. Russ PS -- Ardrossan is near Edmonton

Re: questions
Rot Rot rot! closley inspect the frame as it is a 4x4 with that push bar and fender flares chances are it has seen some off road use and flexing. Cab corners, rocker panals, and uper door seams. Also another spot is rear fenders but that can be fixed easy. But really go over the frame and body first. if the frame is no good then your looking at a Project, but if it checks out or is livible then move on tho the motor transfer case and front end. Talk with the owner and see if he seems like an honest guy... and you can be judging the truck by how he seems. But seems like a nice truck! if it seems okay and the price is right go for it !!!

Re: questions
anything from the six to a 350 unless the previous owner has swapped something else in. My bet would be a small block, probably a 350(hopefully for you).
