Swaping window frames?

So I know the basic doors on our trucks are all the same. Window frames are different.

Is it possible to remove the window frame and install a different one without hurting the paint on the outside of the door. Not worried about the frame, and not worried about the inside of the door. Only what you see on the outside.

Ive never pulled one off before. It looks to be welded on the inside, but not on the outside.

EDIT: Was just thinking about this. Would it be possible to just cut the corner and swap? Going from truck rounded to burb squared off

Cutting the corner off the frame is totally doable. That would be the easiest route and would only require paint matching on the the window frame it's self. I would even fit the new doors to the truck before changing the corners. I have wondered about removing the whole frame as well but have never tried it.

Re: Swaping window frames?

You can take the entire window frame out without any outer door damage, it is spot welded on the inner structure only.
I had an NOS door that the fit was so bad I ended up removing the entire frame and replacing it with a used one.

Re: Swaping window frames?

Ive got some pretty bad doors in the barn Ill have to grab one and take a closer look. Just spot welds and no screws. Doesn't sound very stable.

I had forgotten about that orange truck. Another beautiful build by Livrat.
