1971 C20 front brake hose???

None of the parts stores list one for my truck, whats the deal? It's a 71 C20,power brakes, front disc, rear drum. I'm redoing all the lines this weekend and would like to do the hoses as well. Any other years interchange?

You can get the rear hoses. Delco ,Wagner makes them. We sell them. depends on 127in or 133in WB

We don't sell the front hoses in disc or drum for the front cause non of the MFG's make them anymore for the c20's. I don't know why. You can forget
AcDelco,centric,pronto,Wagner they don't make them

They make the rear but not the fronts

Go to BrakeQuip and have some made, they are quality

NAPA does not sell them either unless the make them

Re: 1971 C20 front brake hose???

You can still buy 71-72 3/4 ton front brake hoses. I buy them from Kennys Trucks in Tulsa Mobilehomela. He carries them in his store and on his swap meet truck. 50 bucks a pair. I use them on my lowered 1/2 ton trucks because they are longer than 1/2 ton hoses giving me more slack when running drop springs and spindles.

I just did my '71 K20, i had all three re-manufactured at a hydaulic hose place for around $75. Make marks so that the hoses won't bind when you put them back into the flange.

Re: 1971 C20 front brake hose???

Sounds like I have to have them made, which makes no sense to me at all. I talked the "knowledgeable" counter guy at Advance Auto into letting me look at the Bendix catalog, and the skip 71 and 72. I really don't understand this at all. I was able to order the rear one, just not the fronts.

Re: 1971 C20 front brake hose???

i bought the braided stainless kit with all 3 hoses from inlinetube. the part number is CT1002 and the cost was under $120 with shipping. i plan to haul with my truck and decided not to skimp on the brakes. looking forward to a firmer pedal feel and better dependability over stock rubber hoses.

Who makes them?? We sell most all major brands and none of them make them. Getting them made is no problem but its nice if they are already made

If 73 up a arms and spindles fit, why wouldn't the brake hoses?

interesting, I did the ones on prariewolf's 71 C20 burb this summer. I got them from Car Quest. I'll give him a call and either have him post the #s or do it myself.

Re: 1971 C20 front brake hose???

looks like the '73 should work and that probably be the quickest . The type I got at the hydaulic shop are the new Stainless steel flex cable and I had them put clear plastic as the protective covering. They had about 6 colors. Hope all goes well. I have learned a lot about a 71 in the last week. The books seem to skip a lot on the parts. I located new drums and the book said they would fit, but they were to long ( deep). I had to get the back outer rim of the drums turned , so that the height was only 5 in instead of 5.5

I called them, they had no listing. Nobody I've called does, not for 71 or 72. I'll probably check into the ones from a 73.

Re: 1971 C20 front brake hose???

The one's Kenny sells are not 73 and up hoses. They are exact 71-72 hoses. The 73 and up hoses are significantly longer.

Mike, I suspect Kenny is selling EIS brand parts if you have a channel to get that line.

Thanks Kevin. EIS is owned by Standard Motor Products. We sell SMP parts and they should show up our system but they don't. I will see why.

Thanks

SMP does not own EIS anymore I found out. They had bought Cooper/Moog and now Cooper/moog is owned by Federal-Mogul. Wagner is owned by them also and they list the front brake hose. Two WAGNER part numbers for FRONT hoses BH97653 and F97653 both fit 71-78 according to Wagner. both for 3/4, 1/2 tons. Could explain the difference in lengths.

Sorry but this is driving me crazy. I would just get them from Kennys. Sorry I am done

I really wanted to get all the lines changed today, so I bought front hoses from a 73. They work, but the are almost twice as long

I guess that would be good for a bagged truck. I bet NAPA could match it closer by size, if you know someone willing to spend a little time with their nose in a parts book.

We do everything NAPA can do. They don't show the hoses in the books or computer either. We checked.
