66 suspension swap.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if you can swap out the entire front suspension from a 76 half ton to a 66 half ton? I have a 66 short box 1/2 ton pickup and a 76 half ton parts truck. I would like to use the spindles and rotors to get disc brakes, but not sure what I would need to do to accomplish this task. Also can I use the power booster off of the 76? How about the steering box....the 76 is a two wheel drive pickup? Thanks in advance for the help.

Your good, but you will need to do a little mod to make the steering box work. There is currently a power steering thread around here detailing how to dimple the frame for box clearance.

The crossmember swap has been done gobs of times. It's pretty much a slam dunk, requiring only 2 bolt holes to be slightly enlongated. All of the rest of the bolts line straight up.

I do not know about the brake booster swap.

I have doen this

I swapped all my 64 front end outwith all ne updated parts that you are mentioning. The power stearing box reauires a modified brakect to mount it tot he frame. I belwive Brothers or some like that has a bracket you can buy for this. The brake booster will require you to drill some holes to get it to mount. All in all it is a fairly simple swap/ When I did mine I went ahead and added drop spindles and air ride.
