I've never seen roof marker lights like those before. Are they aftermarket?

Could that be a longhorn? I see area's where the Longhorn script might have been near each rear side marker light.

Re: phaton 1968 longhorn pics

Hey that pic answers the question I had about tool box doors being available on 68's...If for some reason you decide not to go with the side tool box I would buy that piece of trim thats on it from you.

Re: phaton 1968 longhorn pics

What's the model number on that? Now that i look at it, I wonder if it really IS a longhorn?
The reminance of the badges are in the wrong location, and that tool box... shouldn't be anywhere near a 68... If GM books are right, they weren't avalible untill 69 or 70.

Re: phaton 1968 longhorn pics

How about a closeup of the toolbox and the trim between it and the cab?
I thought the longhorn emblem on a 68 is above or below the marker light.
I know it can be changed ,but it has 69-72 type trim around the talillights

Re: phaton 1968 longhorn pics

Looking at the first picture, you can clearly see the line 6" back on the bed that makes it a longhorn. In 39 years a lot of stuff could have been changed but that bed at least is from a longhorn, and I don't know how it would have fit on a regular 127" wb chassis, but I guess it could be done.

Re: phaton 1968 longhorn pics

the thing is, you could have a 68 cab andchassis one ton... which would have a 133 inch wheel base... the longhorn was build on said one ton frame.
So I am thinking, that with all the later model clues (69 & up longhorn badge location, tail light trim, tool box) that you have a cab/ chassis truck with a later longhorn bed.
You have the model number... heck, i could tell by the VIN alone.
