65 Upper ball joint riveted in
So I've ground off the rivet heads on the upper side of the ball joint, but still cant seem to get it off... using a screw driver and a BFH to try and drive and pry it off.. but no luck.
anyone have any tips? is it cheaper/easier to just get a new upper control arm set up for the new bolt in ball joints? Last edited by Choptop32; 05-09-2010 at 06:54 PM. |

I ground the head's off, then you can pry them out. Then grind down the remaining rivet, and finally use a air chisel to push them the rest of the way. Sounds like a lot but it's pretty simple.

Drill into the rivet. You don't even need to drill it out completely, just drill into it from the top. Next, get a good punch and a heavy hammer and pop those rivets out. The hole you drill into the rivet will help by allowing the rivet to collapse it in. They will still be stubborn, but you can get them out. Just keep at it and they will eventually come out.
