Power Steering Line..
My power steering pressure line is from 72 i think.. it looks so old...and everytime i turn the wheel it squirts fluid onto the exhaust manifold...and so i have gone to autozone and oreillys and they said they dont make the one i need... so this local place in town they said go downtown to this place called ginder hydralics.. and they can make me one... would you guys trust this??? or should i go to lmctruck.... i kinda want to get a line asap because i havent drove this truck in over a week and a half and i really miss it since gas is cheap again...$1.89.... so i want to get her back on the road so i can cruise again.... thanks guys

Re: Power Steering Line..
what motor do you have? oops, I see below your name it is a 402. Contact Frank (Pickmup) he is a vendor here on this board and sells really nice stainless PS hi pressure hoses.

Re: Power Steering Line..
Having one made locally shouldn't scare you. Just take the old one in if it fits correctly.
The line should also be available from a board vendor or the local Napa or other parts place. Try napaonline.com to get the part number and pick it up locally. |

Re: Power Steering Line..
You can do it either way. I went to Napa and bought the high pressure line (can't imagine why yours didn't have it) and it fit fine. I also went to the junk yard and got the low pressure line. I have had ps lines made by a custom type company and they work great.

Re: Power Steering Line..
You need to go to a real parts house. NAPA shows to have the hose http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...ure+Hose+-+OEM
http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...d=7&SubCatId=6 Is the page that shows all of the ps hose options for that truck The price will most likely be a bit higher in the store than they show online though. Last edited by mr48chev; 11-14-2008 at 12:51 AM. |

BTW, I recently had a power steering line made for my truck. I bought a stock line from LMC, then had to have the LS1 Corvette end attached to it at a hydraulic shop, so my power steering hose was ~$60! |

Re: Power Steering Line..
Unless someting has changed the "correct" pressure line for a bb is not available. If you want correct contact pickmup or have a new hose put on your old hard lines at the hydrolic shop.

Re: Power Steering Line..
Every parts house I have been to says they have the hose, according to their books. BUT, when I bring my old hose for comparison, it is never the correct one. The one Napa has is not correct either.

Re: Power Steering Line..
Aren't they the same as a 73 or so... most auto parts will tell you they don't stock it for a 67-72, but I think it's the same hose for a 73-early 80s. I bought one for a 73, works great.

Re: Power Steering Line..
ya here in salina they have two different hoses for our trucks but when they arrived after they ordered them i took old one in and it was wrong... and so i too kit to the hydralic shop and had one made...then when i reconnected it and put fluid into it and drove it. it still growled.. so i talked to this mechanic at my work...he works on semis..he was like jack up your front end to get pressure off the tires... then once tires are off the ground turn your wheel...and sure enough it got all the trapped air out of my system and no more growling so i thought i would say that to people who are having problems with theirs in the future
