Lifting and Tires
So I'm looking at lifting the beast and was wondering what a good affordable lift kit is...and for 37s or 38s how much of a lift I'd need. She's a 72 1/2 ton 4x4 long bed with a 350 and stock rear end of 3.73s I believe...so I don't know what to look at getting...

You're looking at awefully tall tires for 1/2 ton axles. I hope you don't plan on any wheeling...

As mentioned, check the sticky for the lift size. And I bet you're gonna need some taller gears. I got 4:10 right now with 34's but when I go up to 36's I think I'm gonna go with 4:56, I like to have the extra grunt & don't do much highway driving anyway. Also as mentioned, if you're gonna do much wheelin', might want to consider one ton running gear with tires that size. It'd save you a lot of broken parts. JMHO

my 72 blazer had 38 with 6in springs and 3 in body if flexed hard they would rub a little.

You`ll definately want shorter (lower) gears for that size tires.I think you`ll want 8",unless you`re not going to flx it alot.8" rims help clearance in alot of cases.

Shoving a big lift and big tires on a truck and calling it 'good to go' is a recipe for trouble IMO.
Forgetting about those 1/2 ton axles and the stock gearing for a minute, you'll want/should consider the following: *better brakes than you currently have. (one ton booster and braided lines to start) *better steering (cross over and possibly hydro assist) *upgrade the shocks to handle the increased unsuspended tire weight. My blazer with the 38 was afraid to stop so I chaned to a 3/4 ton booster and master and added stainless brake lines it was like night and day it stopped 100% better.
