What did you get done?

Once more it's time to see if you were productive this week or weekend. Were you good little truckers and do all your truck chores? Where you just typical Joe's and did yard work instead? I was a bit of both this weekend.

I had a pretty busy week so I didn't get much done until Saturday. I got up early and spent the morning mowing, trimming, weedeating, and cleaning the pool (typical Joe stuff).

Saturday afternoon I got busy on my 77 though. I decided to skip the Saturday part of Super Chevy and spend the time detailing my truck. It wasn't too dirty, but it needed a good clean up and as always I had to polish all the billet parts. That kept me in the garage till late.

I got up early Sunday and loaded my 77 to go to the show. I realized my wifes Denali was dirty so I stopped to wash it before I left. Then I blasted off for Super Chevy.

The show was about avergae for a Super Chevy show. There were a ton of nice classic cars, and a handfull of nice trucks. I spent the morning taking pictures, so y'all get to see what was there. There was a really, really nice red 70 there that kicked @ss in the truck class. I spent time talking to the owner and found out he did a lot of the work himself. Considering the quality was top notch I was really impressed.

My truck got skipped by the judges. They called my class and there was only one award given out. I checked with them and they said I didn't have it there in time to be judged. ???? I was there at 8:30 AM! Then they said I didn't have my class card on the dash???? It was there a minute ago! Then they said, oh yeah I remember your truck. You got "Outstanding in class"..... Whatever!

Anyway, what did y'all get done?.....

I installed a blazer fuel tank under my truck, and ran my return line. When things dry up at the wrecking yard I'll go and pull a couple of those steel braided lines from the 88+ trucks and figure out how I am gonna mount my fuel filter / fuel pump.

Saturday morning, I drove about 60 mi to a Dodge dealership to look at a truck I was interested in, turns out it's not what I wanted. Argued with them for most of the day, then I took the GF out for our 2 yr anniversary. Sunday, Dad and I put up a new barbed-wire fence around the property. That took most of the day. When we finished that, I cleaned the interior of the truck with some ArmorAll.

i washed ol red wednesday, then proceded saturday to drive on dirt roads to do some JROTC stuff, ahd now i gotta re wash it. Need to go pick up some ATF, as im real low; i accidentally put in like 3 quarts of additive in place of actual fluid so its leakin a bit. Fiddled with my washer pump some more and i think ima get one of those cheap rebuild kits.

I didn't put my hands on the Blazer at all this weekend, but did map out a large part of my project. I bought an engine for it this week, and have decided to dive right in. I have been pricing stuff that I want to replace, so it will be here when I am ready to start. I will probably have the front end and doors off soon. So far, the plan is to replace the front end sheetmetal, and the doors, and detail everything while the engine is out.

I did go to a dog show yesterday, and watched a friend's Bull Terrier finish up her championship points. I doubt one of my dogs will ever be show quality, but it was interesting.

Hey if I'm not productive, at least I'm inspiring....
Yeah we spent a while Bs'ing today. It was really good to meet you too. Don't get in a hurry, and stay determined. It will take some time to get where you want to be, but it will happen.

Here's a sneak peak of the red truck I drooled on all day.....

Tried unsuccessfully to fix my automatic choke (again). Its starting to get pretty chilly up here in the morning and Big Bird is grumpy now when cold. Getting ready to go on vacation with the wife to Phoenix on Thursday morning so trying to get the yard work and other stuff wrapped up.

Sat: drove 1.5hrs to Weatherford to see bro-in-law play in the band for a football game.

Sun: drove home and spent the rest of the day at the fair, and took my daughter to Monsters Inc. on Ice (at the fair)... she was scared at first but had fun eventually. Had a long day so we all crashed early....

Spent the weekend at Myrtle Beach. Had a good time mostly, only rained on us once as the very edge of a tail off Ivan sweeped over, it lasted all of about 15 mins though. Fixing to get new plugs for the '78 to see if that wont get it running. I've got to pick up the score of a 3.73 rear end I found through a guy at work and start on getting that changed over so I can drive it again.

Well, Thursday night I put a new chrome step bumper on the 76. Didn't do anything Friday night. Saturday, I got up and participated in an IDPA match at my local gun club. It was my first time shooting at one of those events, and I didn't do badly at all. I haven't seen the actual scores yet, but based on what I saw the other folks doing, I should be in the top half of the group. Then Saturday afternoon, I replaced the distributor cap, rotor, and plug wires on the 76. Then we grilled out with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law in the evening.

I know the feeling with grumpy truck on firing it up... It was about freezing this morning, and the ol' GMC wasn't very happy when I dropped it into gear...

I worked on my door speaker pods some more & started cleaning the garage. I built a loft shelf over my bench because Im really getting tired of tripping over all the junk sitting all over my 1 stall garage.

Next weekend I should have my old motorhome moved to storage so Ill be able to push my truck outside & take a few pics of it. I cant wait to be able to step back & have a look at it myself along with finally being able to take out my bench seat to finish my stereo install...corn
