Re: Front clip swap

I am in the process of doing this right now so I can give you some thoughts on it. The front fenders are bolt on. The biggest thing is the top of the cowl. The 82 has the hood hinges in the cowl, so there is pretty good sized hole on the top. I actually cut the top of the cowl out of a 79 and welded it in to the 82 cab. I know a lot of guys just weld metal over the holes but I wanted the hood locator pins. It also looks more factory. You also need to drill the holes along the top of the cowl for the hood seal and the wiper towers will have to be changed for the old style ones. It does require some work but I think it was worth it. I will have a build thread on my 77 in the future when it is finished soon.

Re: Front clip swap

It depends on how far you want to go to make it look factory and making sure you have all the pieces to make it work.

Re: Front clip swap

Ruben its best to just locate a donor truck and rob what you need. The core support and correct matching body mounts all with all brackets and braces need to come along for the ride.

Re: Front clip swap

actually you use the body mounts from the frame that you are using. It is better if you have a donor truck.
