instead of using a hole saw and then taking a router and routing inside of the hole saw cut
line, Why not just use a Forstner bit and drill with it? you could use the block of wood
that you suggest as a template to drill with!
(And i am saying this with No Disrespect or trying to steal anyone's Thunder at all)
Just trying to add to a GREAT TIP that you have come up with!
