Re: What did you get done 4/18/10 weekend after tax day edition

Got a piece of dash spliced in where some idiot had hacked it for an aftermarket radio. Got a factory radio wired up and working. Swapped out cluster panel and wired a factory clock. Cleaned a used cluster bezel up, took all the peel and stick brushed aluminum off.

Basically got the interior all put back together and wanted to drive it home. Had put a piece of cardboard under the engine area to make sure we stopped the oil leak (sending unit). It looked nice and dry under there. But.... under the rear end was a huge puddle... Seems my pinion seal is shot. Guess what I'm doing next weekend.

Re: What did you get done 4/18/10 weekend after tax day edition

Okay, I completely remove the entire front and rear suspension from my 80 donor truck. Cleaned the suspension parts. Fixed two smallish dents in my hood, primered the hood and front valance, and then blocked out the hood. Then went home and mowed the yard, trimmed a tree, and burnt the trimmings. That was on Saturday, then today wet sanded the hood and front valance, then shot them body color, base coat/ clear coat paint. Washed the front clip of my truck and washed and cleaned the engine and engine bay. Then went mushroom hunting, only found about a dozen, the biggest being about 2" tall. Then I had to be a work at 3 pm.

Drove back from Gatlinburg (27th Anniversary Trip) yesterday after checking out 3 days of rods in Pigeon Forge, TN. The 87 is at the body shop getting undercoated and paint touched up. Should be back home tomorrow.

Re: What did you get done 4/18/10 weekend after tax day edition

On Sat, my dad and I went and picked up a hood for his '66 C-10. Today (Sun) I spent most of the day tinkering with my Blazer. Pulled the rear bumper, the rear hitch setup, and then dropped the gas tank to replace the leaking fuel hoses. Ended up cleaning the tank and painting it, same deal for the hitch and the rear frame rails and bumper brackets. Also repainted the bumper filler and kinda-sorta straightened some kinks in the bumper. ...Now if only the rest of the Blazer looked that good

Welded up my lower frame mounts, built and welded up my lower rear links and tacked my lower axle mounts. Now I need to focus on the bridges, shockwave mounts and upper links.

Re: What did you get done 4/18/10 weekend after tax day edition

those are almost looking over engineered. haha

for me... not very much done to the truck, pulled a couple things out of the blazer, founds out that i had the wrong valve seals so the motor is on a stand still...

as for the bike... for some new forks for it (feels 100X better now), and put in a order for a new helmet, etc.

Saturday was a little weak but trucks came out of the woodwork for Sunday. There were several nice 73-87 trucks on Sunday along with a full complement of 67-72 models.

It looked to me that most everything doubled from Saturday to Sunday, show cars/trucks, and swap meet vendors. I'm sure the rain Saturday morning hurt all aspects of the show. I know I didn't enjoy driving a highly detailed truck in 2 hours of steady rain Saturday morning.

Well, last week went very well! We had 2 1/2 weeks before we close on the new house and have not sold the old one yet, but someone is now buying it and closing the same day as the new one. WOW! Some times things are just mint to be. So only one house payments!

Pic of my new bar in the house!
