Noobie with a wheel question

Hello guys I am new to posting to not new to reading and learning. I bought a 63 C20 for a beater, and it is slowly turning into a project (thanks to all ) First things first...she needs a drop. My questions is the truck has 15" 2 Piece Wheels. Is this normal for this model? Are these useful to anyone or are they scrap? I am unfamiliar with 2 piece, but I know no one will mount tires on them, so I bought some from a junk yard to replace them. I am in the process of painting the bumpers, grill, and getting the wheels on. I need to do a bit a rust repair as she has bad spots on doors and fenders. Cab is SUPER corners are great and rockers are solid. Needs a patch in the floor by the tank on both side and that is about it. Anyway thanks for all the information and hope to get to know you all soon. And I better post a picture or two huh??

Scrap metal. You could sand blast them and make barstools!

Are you keeping it an 8-lug, or switching to 5 or 6 when you drop it? That would certainly open up your wheel options.

Thanks for the info guys. SeanPaintsFlames thanks for the link. I will hopefully find a 73-87 donor and convert 5 lug...see this is how addiction starts, buy a beater and first the paint then wheels then the lowering and on and on.

Good Ol' Kingsport...I go to Rogersville all the time, that is where I got the truck actually.

If you do scrap the wheels save the hubcap clips. No one is making them for the 3/4 ton, and us older model guys can use them when we want to put original caps on a newer rim.

I am still running the two piece rims on my 52. Unfortunately, they got caught in the 3 piece rim fiasco in the early 70s. The 2 piece lock ring has a very low failure rate. The only was one will come apart is if you really screw up on assembly or have severe rust. They were made so a farmer could change the tire with a hammer and a bar. I have a local dealer who does mine, but it's an extra $5 a wheel. I repaired truck tires during wheat harvest just out of high school.

Whether 5, 6 or eight lug, the wheel options are almost unlimited...don't change from 8 lug to 5 or six lug, thinking you have more options, because most of the major manufacturers have every size, style and finish, to satisfy your wheel needs, so don't change because you believe there are limited options, because there are near limitless options. Might check to see if anyone is doing a show quality restore, and wants the correct rims. But I wouldn't change bolt patterrn because of wheel selection. But if you do, since you hane an older 3/4 ton it wll probably have an eaton differiental with 17 spline axles. I found out the hard trying to find a locker. Good luck and welcome onboard.
