13" and 14" Corvette Brakes for C10's

Awhile back I posted some Corvette brake conversions we had done for customers and now we are going to offer them to forum members in different stages. The basic setup with include McGaughys 2.5 Drop spindles, bearings, seals, steel hubs drilled for 5x4.75" bolt circle with 7/16" studs, and the mounting bracket to make it all work. This is the most economical kit and lets you find a deal on your corvette parts whether new or used. At this stage, you will only need rotors, loaded calipers, hoses, and banjo bolts to complete the kit.
The next stage is fully assembled spindles ready to install, includes 13" drilled, slotted, and coated rotors, and loaded C5 RED Z06 calipers.
We also have the C6 Z06 14" brakes in red or Gransport Silver.
Prices as follows:
Basic starter kit $599.00
13" Assembled $999.00
14" C6 Z06 assembled $1499.00
I also have all components available separately. Redrilling hubs and rotors to 5x5 is available for $35ea. 6 lug hubs also available. I also have a huge inventory of used calipers.

What is the weight difference between the mcgauphys complete kit vs. The corvette? I know the mcgauphys kit is pretty heavy. Thx.

Thats a fantastic question, though I've wondered before I never took the time until just now to check. A loaded C5 caliper with brake hose and hose bracket weights in at 10lbs 10oz while the Silverado caliper out of a Mcgaughys big brake kit weights 17lbs 4oz ea

.875 should be enough but I like 1" when I'm ordering custom machined wheels

Are you quoting (1)the backspacing clearance measurement from the wheel / hub interface or the "add to" distance in radius from the caliper to the inside of the rim...? (2)What is the distance required from spindle center to just past caliper mounted (radius)...? plus or minus 8"

Both would be helpful...thanx

yes, thats wms to outside of caliper. The radial dimension your looking for is 7.74" this is center of hub to outside of caliper

Boris, have you looked at the 2004-2008 CTS-V caliper? i was told the Brembo CTS-V caliper is the same as the 14" Z06.

Haven't had the opportunity yet. If I run across a set, I will mock them up.
Thanks

Re: 13" and 14" Corvette Brakes for C10's

So if I was to buy the basic starter kit but I wanted it in 6lug hubs do you supply the rotors also? What would the rotors cost and the option for a 14"'rotor. I already have z06 calipers...

Boris, the Cadillac CTS-V (first gen) is the 4 pot Brembo from the first gen Z06, the same for the second gen CTS-V/Z06 6 pot. Such an awesome setup.

Re: 13" and 14" Corvette Brakes for C10's

The c5 z06 did not have the 4 pot brembos... They were simply red painted sliding calipers. The cool part about the brembos though is that they list for 150 or less each from the dealer. C6 z06 calipers is not a brembo...

OK, the Gen1 CTS-V uses 4 pot Brembos, I was told the C5 Z06 was the same.

The Gen1 CTS-V (4 pot):

Gen2 CTS-V (6 pot)

Both are made by Brembo. Did GM cheap out on the Z06?

the 6 bolt hub kit and spindles will be $750, your spindles won't work

Correct GM skimped out entirely on the Z06 brakes...

VERY different...

C5 Z06 Brakes - Sliding caliper brakes that are a different color from the regular C5 brakes...

C6 Z06 - 6 piston calipers, but are prone to flex and the brake pads are ridiculously expensive. Some have recently come out with some single pads instead of the "padlets" that have bee used (one pad per piston).

As far as I am aware there has never been a factory adaptation of a Brembo on a Corvette. Vette calipers are made by PBR of Australia.

This is what a lot of the F body guys are doing with that particular caliper:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/suspen...-kit-info.html

The newer adaptation has been the Camaro Brembos. As they are being produced currently thus they are easier to get your hand on a set.

Way2lo2 is doing us a great service by getting decent brakes on our trucks... I can't wait to see what else he comes up with. It would be great to adapt a spindle for "modular" use like some of the car spindles that simply take a bracket and you're in business with any brake setup you can imagine. What he is offering is one step closer without going to CPP modular spindles.
