Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

It's always a subjective thing, but I have had good luck putting 2 of these these in for friends of mine. They wanted a decent CD player and they wanted to be able to plug there ipod in and use the deck to control it. Take look, maybe it will work for you.

This one cost less than $90.00 shipped!
CD,SD card, usb port and Aux input all with front and back RCA plugs + a mono sub RCA plug in.
I'm very pleased with it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

I assume your planning on cutting the dash or its already been done. I'd go to a local stereo shop (not best buy or wal mart ect) and have them show you what they have in your price range. You cant really go wrong with something name brand (alpine or pioneer are my favorite) 150 bucks should get you a decent entry level radio.

Actually I purchased an LMC overhead "highliner" that has a spot for the stereo. My dash isn't cut and I plan on putting in an original stereo just for the look.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

I'm running last years Pioneer DEH-P4100UB and I love it. I got it on-sale and added the 2 year warranty from Fry's for a total of $153 something. I love it cuz it has ipod hook up, auxiliary port, cd player, 3 volt peer outs, hd radio compatible, and Bluetooth compatible.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

I like the kenwood decks a lot as well as Pioneer and Alpine. I buy most of my car stereo stuff off of amazon and have had pretty good luck so far.

Pioneer, Kenwood or Alpine is all I would ever put in my ride for less than $150.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

This is what is going in my truck, but it has been discontinued, they will show you a similer model.

http://www.crutchfield.com/s_105KDA8...5.html?tp=5684

My main reason for choosing this one.

Past experince with JVC
5 volt preamp outs
3 band eq
And the color adjustment. I really wanted to have a stereo that was not bright red or blue. I wanted to get something that I could match the dash colors.

The USB and iphone connection seemed cool too.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

If I can root it, this for $200.

Otherwise I will use another 7" tablet. Already have the console made for it, just need the actual form factor to mount it up. I will be using a headphone to RCA cable into my crossover (has built in line level amp to boost signal) then to my amps.

Yes, it's more than $150. But it will do audio, video, navigation, and wifi plus it will be tethered to my phone. It will eventually do my starter (push button) door locks, and my air ride adjustments if I ever get off my butt and develop an app for that.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

like everyone said a bunch of options... one thought though..
I just got a deck with a front usb for my ipod.. I picked it because the deck controlled the ipod and it charged it.

I wish I would have got a deck with 2 usb, one in back. I would like to run a usb to my glove box, plug the ipod in there and leave it out of sight..

much cleaner than an ipod hanging out of you deck.. just my two cents..

I thought about doing that too. Bluetooth interface an Android tablet with an Arduino microcontroller, controlling audio, door locks, windows, lighting, starter, possibly even get a solenoid to control the transmission. Probably won't find the time, but might tinker around with it.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

Right now I am holding out for the Nexus 7. If it's a quad core like they claim, then I know I will have enough HP to run everything. My design and proof of concept work, it's just a matter of getting the rest of the truck to the same stage.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

Since this got bumped, I'll put this deck out there:

Pioneer DEH-P8400BH

I'ts actually a little over $150 at $169, but I just installed one yesterday in my friends 4runner and was really impressed with how clean it was. The BlueTooth got me the most as it was the clearest BT over radio I've ever heard with no echo or issues at all.

Well they just unveiled it, and it is indeed packing the Tegra 3, Jelly Bean and Quad Core goodness.

Re: Best Stereo Under $150?

Not quite under $150, but can do a lot more than pump tunes.

<edit> Now if I could only get work to upgrade to 4.1 for development, I would be in business. Why we are stuck on Gingerbread is beyond me.

I must be old cause I didn't understand a word that was just said. Back in my day, if you had a Pioneer Super Tuner III, you were the MAN.
