Cowl hood flew off.........

Just kidding!!! I have been thinking about removing it for over a year now and going back to the orginal. I love the looks of the 67-8 hoods and I think the cowl takes away from the look. I used to be a 72 guy (when I got out of HS) but never could find a 72 and ended up with the 67. I have grown to like them more than the 72 now. What ya all think?

Remove it and sell it to me!
Actually, I am undecided... I think I like the flat one myself.

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

Although I think they did a damn fine job with the cowl hoods on 67-72 GM trucks, I still think the original looks cleaner.
Either way your truck will look awesome as usual!

Your truck would look good with cardboard covering the engine!

Cowl hoods just don't look right on these trucks, especially on 67-68 models IMO.

i have to agree, the 67-68 do not look as good as the 69-72 cowl hoods, but still a nice touch to seperate them from other trucks

I personaly wouldn't buy one unless I needed the room for engine clearance. But you already own one and I think it looks good! I'd keep running it, but I guess it's going to boil down to your personal preference.

Randy I like the cowl, the old pics without it (not just that one pic) the visor sticks out more and takes away from the overall look of the truck. With the cowl on your eyes are diverted down more and the whole truck flows better...
no i have not been watching hgtv... just MHO either way its sexy in the end

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

I think cowl hoods look most at home on 67-68 body styles and on 2 wheel drive lowered "hot rod" style truck. You have a beautiful truck either way and the change won't be dramatic, but I tend to lean towards the stock style hood.......for what it's worth!

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

They're right in the end it's up to you... but I think your truck looks absolutly sic with the cowl hood, there is something about your truck that just makes it look badass maybe the visor, maybe the paint, I don't really know but I love it how it is...

Normally I'd say stock hood, But with your set-up, Lifted, Big Meats, Visor, it just seems to fit. I say keep the cowl hood on that bad boy.

i am severley biased agains cowl hoods on anything that doesnt need one. i do agree that your truck would look good even with a piece of cardboard covering the engine. sweet truck

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

I personally hate cowl hoods. I think they ruin the original, classic, and perfect lines that the 67-68 trucks had. The 69-72 have inferior hoods and lines aren't as nice, so the cowl hood doesn't do much to throw off the already-present ugliness of them.

I say ditch the cowl hood.
Go back to the original.
Your truck is badass and looks even more badass with the original hood!!

I like cowl hoods. They are my favorite hood scoops of them all. But not on 67-72's. Why mess with perfection?

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

Just found this thread...

I wouldn't put a cowl hood on most trucks, but yours isn't 'most trucks' and it looks just right on there. As stated, it seems to go well with the lift, the tires & wheels -- even the visor, which I normally detest.

If you decide to put the stock hood back on, please remove the visor!

Incidentally, I'm old school and remember many hot Chevelles with cowl hoods... on the right vehicle and with enough oomph to back up the image, they look great!
