How to install seat buttons?
My new seat covers have arrived for my 1980 non-folding seat. Looks great but does anyone know how to install the seat buttons?
My old seat was a different pattern with no seat buttons and it was unavailable (see pics). I like the style I bought, even though they are not absolutely correct for the year. My truck is a 1980 disguised as a 1973 and has a later bed, so it's a bitsa as they say.

Re: How to install seat buttons?
Those are not the right kind of buttons.
They are the button and then the backing plate.

Given that these are the only buttons I’ve got I suppose I can make my own backing plates. Do we just poke them through the upholstery and that’s it? Not through the foam I’m guessing but it looks like I should get the buttons tight to compress the upholstery a bit and give it that buttoned down look. Comments?

Re: How to install seat buttons?
Here’s the Chrome Medallions. I do have the contact info to the guy that bought all my seat supplies. I could ask him if he would sell you some blue buttons with the backing plates.

Re: How to install seat buttons?
Thank you again for your help TKCR. I think I’ll try some regular buttons on the back. Something strong off of a jacket, with a concave shape like the OEM backing plates, that can give it the right look.
Either that or I’ll leave them off altogether. I wouldn’t want to end up with loose buttons.
