Re: 67 Camaro Build

I appreciate the kind words, thank you guys.

I’m with you 69cam, can't wait to start the final assembly!

Kevin your vert looks great! You know I have got to be partial to white also, the last 3 projects we’ve had painted and the last 2 dailies purchased have all been white.

Hey Scott very nice of you to say, some talented folks are doing cool stuff in this section.

Back at Perk’s the doors and spoiler trunk lid are getting some final sanding. Meanwhile, I’m starting to prep the diff for paint. I've removed the Lokar emergency brake cables that came from Moser. My thoughts are I’m going to try and run the factory setup instead, either way the cables need to be out of the way for paint.

Oh I love the 67 pace cars. I am a little partial to white 67 drops tops too, lol. Should have kept this one, but let it go when the right offer came in.

Thanks Joe, me too!

The new control arms come powder coated and preassembled, easy peasy. And yes, I went with new springs, and am waiting for them to arrive. So, now would be a great time to mockup the brake lines on the shortened diff.

Re: 67 Camaro Build

Thanks Ryan, that’s so true.

The brake distribution block didn’t fit its bracket but that was an easy fix. Welded on some brake line tabs and reformed the lines a little bit without shortening them. Once satisfied I pulled this stuff back off for paint.

Yes, the last shot is the rear end showing you its bottom!

Re: 67 Camaro Build

Thank you Greg, that's some impressive hub work you have going on. The last pic I saw with the sticker mockup looks great!

And paint, nothing special just a few coats of Rustoleum Canyon Satin Black. Direct to metal in a spray can, quick and easy, I like it.

Re: 67 Camaro Build

Springs arrived and reassembly of the subframe was underway. I wanted to see if I could leave it on the trailer which I did initially. This threaded rod, finger-style spring compressor does a good job and is easy on the powder-coated finishes. It required that I enlarge the upper shock mount opening slightly for the threaded rod to fit. Also, the shorter finger makes it easy to clock and arch the spring a little bit to aid with the installation.

Re: 67 Camaro Build

I made it this far but decided it would be too much hassle to continue on the little trailer. The rear diff is almost ready to go back under the car.

Re: 67 Camaro Build

Some steering components were next with the center link, new pitman and idler arm, as well as a new fast ratio manual box.

Re: 67 Camaro Build

We’ve got paint on the doors and the spoiler trunk lid. The shell is off the rotisserie and will get covered up for a couple more weeks to let it cure some more. It is tail heavy on the 2-post lift but there are safety straps on the front in case the jack under the trunk floor gets bumped.

Re: 67 Camaro Build

Thanks Kevin, I know and we are so close to having a roller again.

Swapped out the short lug studs on these new rotors to match the long ones we have in the rear axles. Did a quick confirm that the (preinstalled) races in the new hubs match the supplied ones with the bearings. Yep, both inner and outer are same-o no need to swap both are new.

Re: 67 Camaro Build

I found that the original factory steering arm bolts are just too short. The difference is the new thicker disc brake caliper brackets compared to the old drum backing plates. After trying to use the supplied (crap) hardware that couldn’t hold the torque spec. I had to break out my angry eyes and an impact gun to yang those bolts back apart!
