3 speed manual with overdrive.

I know this was available on pre 66 trucks. I was thinking of installing one
in my 71 pickup. Is anyone running one of these tranys? I was hoping to hear
your opinions and maybe even a pic of the controls?

thanks!

Does it have an overdrive? How do you like it?

I have heard good things about the overdrive, there is a thread on this somewhere but I can't find it (I miss search). At anyrate. from what the post said it is a box that mounts under dash that does this for you. Someone out side of this board that is a Pontiac man (rebuilding a 69 Judge) told me to check the yards for a 71-72 model dump truck, they had OD on lots of those and it appeared to be the same setup as the OD for the 3 spds.

I have a 3 speed overdrive on my '56 wagon. It is really sweet. You can overdrive all 3 gears, so if you want you really have 6 speeds. Plus it is great for cruising. I really like it. The only trouble is finding one. I replaced the original 3 speed in my wagon with a 3 speed overdrive with the syncronized 1st gear. I got it out of a 67 el camino, but they are pretty rare and tough to find.
