To Paint or Not to Paint

First post, been lurking for a bit. Just picked up a 65 c20. Surface rust but nothing terrible (bottom of one fender has a bit of cancer, but nothing major). Paint is not in great shape, but it isn't terrible either. So here is the dilemma, do I paint (thinking pine green and white) or just leave the patina and coat it with wax or similar (not really sure I would want to clear coat but heh, that's why I am asking). Pics can be found here (sorry but don't have them on this machine and my blog's not letting me download them in a large enough size)- http://backyardbuilt.tumblr.com.

If I don't paint it, any thoughts on what to do to "protect" the patina as it were?

I say scrub all that black tree sap stuff off it, wax it, and call it good

The paint looks pretty decent to me. I think you should wet sand it with some 1000 or 1500 grit, buff it and wax it. You will still have a some patina, but the paint shouldn't degrade anymore. Then you can put some time into thinking about what you want to do long term.

Re: To Paint or Not to Paint

Thanks. Might be the way to go at least until I get some other things sorted.
