Sweet 630

Back in January I went to my local ATHS chapter (Mason-Dixon) winter gathering and got a couple pictures of the Alexander brothers' GMC 630 they've been working on. I can wait till it's done so they can sell it to me . Nah,I have known them to sell one yet! What a BE-A-U-tiful truck!!!

Re: Sweet 630

I wish I could hit that show. There are some from our bunch that hit 'em all. KQQL IT,are you a member or do you keep up with ATHS? I was just reading in my new Wheels of Time that they are joining up with NAST (National Association of Show Trucks) for the first time at Yakima. They old and new will be separated. They are saying this is how it's going to be at ATHS shows now.

Hey PB,I really can't say for sure. I have meant to get more info, but this time we got there at the end of the meet. They host the shindig and were gettin' busy wrapping things up. I'll see them the first weekend in may and see what I can find out. I love these and wish I had one.

Have you seen the pic of the 600 series front clip on the half ton narrow box, its orange, it looks like its at a car show. I guess I need to learn how to post pics, I'll work on that.

I just love trucks, but I did end up joining in '09 at a show I registered in. I first went to one of their national shows about 30 years ago. I have a buddy who does truck lettering and has some antique trucks who's been in it forever and bugged me to join from way back then. You carry precious cargo. I understand car haulin' is one of the most demanding of jobs in truck driving.

Re: Sweet 630

Its amazing to think that you can take a truck like this 630 of mine and turn it into one like the green one that Special K has shown us in post number one. I have always been a mechanical person instead of a body and fender guy. I think this is my major down fall, I think you should be able to do some of both unless you can hire it done. I never can afford to pay for body and paint because all my extra money goes towards aquiring more trucks and cats because other people have no concept of what should be scraped and what should be saved. My yard looks like a wayward home for 456 chevies and lost caterpillar dozers. Maybe I'll win the lottery and I can take some of my projects to a final restoration, well maybe not since I don't play the lottery. And where was I going with this? Well I really don't remember now but enjoy the pics anyway.

Re: Sweet 630

Yeah, one thing about body work is to do it best you need a good place set-up for it or at least the time to dedicate to get it to a point you can walk away.

I want a 630 bad. I always thought they looked cool growing up and always toyed with the idea of having a large truck. But, I'm really feeling like it's a gotta have lately.

Re: Sweet 630

I actually have a build thread on this site, its in the 60-66 section titled 61 4x4 1 ton. To give you a run down on it, it is a 61 GMC cab mounted on a later model frame with 1-ton running gear and a cummins 4bt.
