Re: help on sub setup

Does the sub have a single or dual voice coil?

What is the amp model? What are the specs at bridged: 200watts at 2ohms, 100 at 4 ohms?

Re: help on sub setup

Yes, by bridging the amp, you're just using the signal from both channels. The amp is still seeing the 4 ohms from the speaker.

I can't find much info on the amp, but if it is listed as 100x2 , that is probably the max rating at 14.4 volts. Assuming a typical setup, and just from the info given, you're looking at getting ~100 watts to the sub. That will be more than enough to hear some bass.

Hook it up, see what happens. Start out with low gain, check for overheating from the amp and distortion from the sub.

Re: help on sub setup

The effective Ohms load to the amp will be 2 Ohms when bridging the output channels.

I think you will be fine, just make sure the amp does not overheat and is properly grounded and fused.

FWIW Class D mono amps have gone down in price so much over the last few years that loads of WRMS is cheap these days for dedicated subwoofer duty.
