FRANKENTRUCK terrorizes Fort Collins, Colorado

Yo! Y'all!
It's happening tomorrow!
FRANKENTRUCK goes to work for the first time, literally! It starts the 40 mile round trip commutes to work in Fort Collins.

Finished the re-torque of the headbolts on the new 350 V8 yesterday, re-assembled the externals, and cured the newly repainted shorty headers today.
There's still a couple of minor things to attend to, but FRANKENTRUCK can certainly take care of itself now!! Starts and runs like a champ,...spits water out the exhaust in attest to it's motor's efficiency. Tremendous accelerator response and rpm capability!
Road miles will test the construct and allow me to attend to any defects, but it's sure been trouble free so far. I'll complete the first oil and filter change this weekend. Maybe I can get to installing the dash bezel, finding the open in the fuel guage circuit, and installing the door threshold trim.
Todd

Liking the rims dude!!! I used to live in Western NE and we would go through Ft Collins from time to time. Lots of good-looking college attendees there if I recall correctly.

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Frankentruck is looking good Todd. What kind of problem are you having with the fuel gauge?

Re: FRANKENTRUCK terrorizes Fort Collins, Colorado

Yo! Thank you all!!
Jim, those wheels are a bit different than the factory slots! cochino12 was asking opinons as he was gonna buy them and I posted about how much I liked them. He decided to go with 18" wheels and I searched to see how much the wheels would cost me,...I was shocked!! The same wheels were $941/4 and from the manufacturer, $1200-1500/4!! These were still in their origonal packaging and stored since puchase in 2003. Had to make a 300 mile round trip to get them though! They are 17x8.5 Foose Spanks, designed by Chip Foose and now no longer available.
Trick76, you remember well! I married one of those fine looking CSU attendees!
And finally, silvereagle07, I have an open circuit somewhere in my sender circuit. I think it's a cold solder,...two new senders, new six port switch, and I know the guage works 'cause I swapped a '73 guage for the old '78 and both peg past full with key on,...indicating "infinite resistance" on the sender side of the circuit. I'll have to get out my multimeter on a good day and track down the open. Got two 20 gallon tanks so I'm not very concerned about it!
Thanks again to all of you for your appreciation of my FRANKENTRUCK construct!!
Todd.

Re: FRANKENTRUCK terrorizes Fort Collins, Colorado

Can't be that hard to find the open circuit. It's only 2 wires, loom runs down the inside of the frame to the fire wall, into the cab then to the cluster.
