New (to the forum) '62 panel owner here...

Hi y'all, first wanted to say THANKS to all for the awesome photos and tech tips for these old trucks. (Lurked for a while before joining) Lots of great inspiration and information!

Here's some pics of my latest project... 1962 C-10 SWB panel truck. Got it from a friend who was selling it for someone else- he called me and told me "had some old Chevy panel truck on the trailer, taking it to the scrapyard, you know someone who wants it?" I told him to bring it over to my place and let me have a look.
Paid $400 for it. Needs some work, but I've always wanted either a panel truck OR a '62 Chevy truck- never dreamed I'd find both in one! And as an added bonus, my wife LIKES this thing!

It's kinda nasty at the moment, I'll post more pics after I clean her out.

1) On the trailer
2) 30 minutes after unloading...
3) Hey, a t-shirt!
4) Check out the tilt wheel, old gauges and that groovy wood dash!
5) I'll have fun getting that hood out.

Going to the crusher? That looks re-storable.

A 63 panel will be my next project. If I can find one- before I die! lol

That's probably where it would have ended up if I didn't get it. It's got the usual rusted places, but it's NOT too far gone to save.

Just takes time and money as they all say...

Re: New (to the forum) '62 panel owner here...

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Set the hood on the truck this afternoon, just before the rain started...
That 4-5-6 grille has gotta go! It just don't look right with the wraparound windshield IMHO.

I agree, the 62 or 63 grille would look right at home.

Welcome to the forum

I'm glad to see another one saved from the crusher. It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like maybe it has already been changed to 5 lug?

Re: New (to the forum) '62 panel owner here...

Good eye Cap'n! Yes, it's been converted to 5-lug, also has disc brakes on the front, and front suspension converted to an A-arm setup. Not sure yet what donor vehicle was used, but from the look I'm guessing 73-87 truck or mid 70s GM G-body. Got power steering and a tilt wheel too.

This truck was running and driving up to the middle of August, PO took motor and tranny out before it got to me.

two words: "BLANK CANVAS!"

@BenkeBird- Good looking truck! You don't see many panel trucks with the chrome trim on the sides. Wish mine looked that good when I bought it!
@Hopped Up- Thanks! Looked at a pic of the 53 grill, and you hit right on the head. Now to hunt down a good one...
