factory 1 1/2" brakes for 73-87 c10s?

I've read a few threads regarding some people upgrading brakes to 1 1/2". From what I gather this is able to be put on the c10 spindles. I have a 1979 c10 with 1.25" rotors and want to make sure this is possible before I order parts. As long as I gdt the right inner and outer bearings it shiuld fit right? What brake code and what vehicle was this 1 1/2" available on? In other words how do I find parts for this through the local parts house. Thanks for the help.

1-1/2"???
There was a light duty 1" rotor and a 1-1/4" HD rotor.
No 1-1/2" rotor.

I'm confused with your question.

Re: factory 1 1/2" brakes for 73-87 c10s?

I know there's the 1.25" that I have. The later model 1" model and then I srumbled across a rhread yesterday with part numbers for 1 1/2" rotors.
4h141043 for rotors
184126 and 184127 for calipers.

I can't find anything ekse on this topic or any orher info. Just wanted to see if anyone else had heard about this. Are there any stock upgrades to the 1.25" rotors or brakes for the front of a 79 c 10? Thanks.

Re: factory 1 1/2" brakes for 73-87 c10s?

According to NapaOnline.com there is a 1.5" thick rotor for an 8 lug C30 1 ton but I don't know how it would be adapting it.

http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...580_0164744459

I've emailed Tobin at Kore3 about adapting 13" C5 brakes to the front of my truck (concerned with using car brakes for a truck) and he told me they use a slightly upgraded 13" x 1.25" setup to slow down a legit 150 mph 4400# Impala SS.

Isn't a 1.5" thick rotor along the lines of what nascar uses?

Now its more of a challenge tyan anything else. So if the c30 uses the 1.5" rotor I should be able to use the bearings from that to adapt those brakes to my c10 spindle.

Re: factory 1 1/2" brakes for 73-87 c10s?

I have a 14bff in tye rear so I'm not scared of the 8 lug. If the larger brakes adapt and I can match rims all around also its just one more plus. Do the spindles have the same diameters? Meaning can the same larger rotor with the proper bearings in it just slide on the spindles I have now?

Re: factory 1 1/2" brakes for 73-87 c10s?

You can answer that by doing a quick check at your local auto parts store or checking online.
But there is a reason the c20/c30 spindles are different.
And it's not just the different balljoints and outer tie rods.

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish or spend all your money on,... but I'd throw a 5-lug rearend under the back and get an aftermarket big brake kit if you just want stopping power.

Re: factory 1 1/2" brakes for 73-87 c10s?

I'm about to rebuild my front end anyways and if there is an option to put larger brakes on when its apart I thought it would be cool. I put the larger rear in for a number of reasons and its worked out great for me so far. Just trying to get all the info about a possible factory upgrade. Thanks for the help. Where do I look to find how the spindles are different betweenc10 and 20 and 30?

To find out the differences in spindles I'd say your best bet would be the salvage yard or u-pull-it and compare them.
