Price of a LS Swap
With LS swaps getting more common every day, what do you think is a reasonable "guess" on the cost of the swap? Are there any shops doing this type of work or is it still mostly DIYS ?

Re: Price of a LS Swap
Hey FLDBRED,
I am in the process of doing an ls swap right now. I found a 5.3 with 4l60e (28k miles) complete drop out with computer and wiring for 1100. My local hot-rod mechanic projects the cost for all that I want done is 1500-2000 (and that includes some work on some extra stuff- vintage air, rewiring the whole truck,...) If you are looking at a new package I was very impressed with mastmotorsports.com the multiple time I spoke with them. They have info and chronicled their ls swap into one of our trucks, still $ but less than turnkey. |

Re: Price of a LS Swap
The new issue of Hot Rod has a good rundown on cost and components, in the "tech" section. I found it informative. Quotes ran from 2k-5k.

Re: Price of a LS Swap
Dont be afraid to do it yourself, I did. It drops in there easily with the motor mounts and a new trans mount ( not always needed). My costs other than motor/trans is harness- @$600.00. PCM reflash-$300.00, mounts @$150.00..questions just ask, also look at Thealien's thread in the Engine/LSx section, lots of info there

Re: Price of a LS Swap
Hey Sactojim,
Yeah, I think I got lucky. I was searching for awhile and spotted this on ebay. It was in Stockton (1.5 hrs away+/-) so I drove down and bought it right away. He seemed like a stand up guy and he tested it while still in the truck before he bought it for his project, then decided to go another route. It is being installed now, so I hope it turns out ok... |

Re: Price of a LS Swap
This is another source I've researched. It is worth downloading their price as a parts guide
