I think maybe my dash cluster bit the dust.
I am not sure yet as it just happened today and I have not had the time to check it out. I got in the truck this morning and was headed to put some gas in. I looked down at the gauge and it read empty. I knew I had around 1/4 tank in it last night. I then looked at the rest of the gauges and nothing was working. No speedo, tach, odometer, nothing, I had turn signals and also my dash lights worked on the way home tonight. I thought I heard these trucks had issues with the clusters if I am not mistaken. I guess I should mention that it is an 03 Silverado 2500HD crewcab 4x4. I need to look at all the fuses in the morning.

Yep it's toast. I think I might send it off to a guy in Missouri and have him fix it. Only $249 verse the $600+ at the dealer. It has got to be done. I really don't like running out of fuel. The rest I can deal with but not the fuel.

Sorry to hear that. I had a cluster go out on me 1 indicator at a time. first-oil pressure, then-engine temp, then-speedo, then-fuel, then-Tach all over the process of about a year. Two years after I replaced it the oil pressure gague started heading south, but I didnt have a problem with any of the others.
Before you spend the $ on a new one remove the cluster, clean the wiring connection, re-lube the connector and see if it fixes the problem. Some people have had luck just cleaning the connection.

rs74 check out dorman products website they carry these clusters as remanufactored with life time warranty they run between 250-300 dollars and you can order it though any advance autoparts or anywhere that sells dorman products

I already tried that. Lol. No good. I am going to pop the bezel off and get in there and see if it will come on before I pull it.

$188 through Summit and $210 through Oreillys. I have yet to see if Rock Auto sells them.
They are $197.

Dude, get in ebay and buy the $40 kit including the iron and solder sucker. Took a couple hours, no prob. Really, no big deal. Look up silverado cluster repair kit.

I rebuild these trucks for a living. If your cluster hasn't been rebuilt it will need to be some day. I have a guy that I send mine to that lives it TN, I pull them out and mail them to him he builds them and mails them back. He has done like 8 for me and I have never had a problem, and I have sent him about 15 to 20 more referrals and all have been happy. I have no business connection with this man, in fact only talked to him on the phone a couple of times. He builds the clusters for $65.00 that is $50.00 for the rebuild and $15.00 for shipping. I normally sent one to him and get it back about three days later. So he will build and turn around the same day unless there is some unforeseen problem that happens in everyone's life. if anybody would like his address PM me. Jim

He stands behind his work as well. I had just as soon spend my time on to other things that I know I can take care of, not saying I couldn't do it it is just better spent time elsewhere. Jim

It is like a frame job most of us could handle it, but only some of us have the machine to do it with and the time invested to learn the little tips to make thing go more smoothly when making the pulls and the measurements and whatnots. Jim

speaking of frame repair. the people in my area has went up alot on frame repair. that is why when i do build a truck i will look around and find one and just change the thing. i have a little kansas jack pulling post.if i cant repair it myself i will just change the thing.

I've got a two post rack that I use for my own stuff and have been thinking about adding a third tower, but I don't do any outside stuff with it. I have offered to help a fellow trucker once or twice that had a 67-72 to pull some front frame horns around but they were just too far away for me to help them. I'm with you 468, I had just as soon change a frame then you know what you got when you go to drop those bolts in and have no B S and everything fits as it should. In fact I am building a 05 Sliverado right now with the situation. It had a hit on the left rocker and cab corner and I ended up deciding on replacing the cab shell. After my dad[he's 83 and still works all the time!] went out into the yard to cut the rocker, I looked and he cut it between the inner and outer rocker. That was gonna leave it hard to put on the way it was hit kinda silly so having 7or 8 shells to pick from I just chose to shell it the rocker it. And after that one is done I have a 04 HD 1500 crew cab to frame then I am close to caught up. Sorry to ramble or hijack. Please forgive and overlook my whatever it is that I have. Jim
