buddy got new 86 jimmy: question on 305

hey guy, I usually don't post here, mostly on the 67-72 page but my buddy got a free 86 jimmy from his aunt and I saw it yesturday and its all in pretty good condition and it has a stock 305 in it and I was wondering how much HP it has.

I don't think it was even that much. The HO 305 was 190, and those weren't in the trucks. I would bet closer to 140-150. Either way, it's not nearly enough for one of these heavy trucks.

I think the actual figure is 165 or 170 for the 305 -- the 350 tbi engines in 87 - on only had 190, but that is enough for normal use because they made good torque.

If it was a driver, i'd probably leave the 305 alone unless its broken, but if its a project, a 350 or 383 would be a lot more fun

160hp in 1986 and they weigh roughly 4500lbs.
