The exhaust on the 67 exits infront of the rear tires with stock mufflers. I am thinking about cutting them off and adding pipe to straight pipe it. Should I? Or not? Its not loud at all. I just want it louder. Im not in a position to run new pipes and mufflers right now.

Like I said in another post, the louder the better unless the cops in your area will give you hell about it.

I like straight pipes all the way straight out to the bumper personally. They are quiet one the freeway and polite around town because they don't vibrate the whole truck. People expect a truck to be loud too, it's like a Harley exemption or something.

a bone stock 350 shouldn't be too bad... what size is the pipes? reason I ask, is my truck has nomufflers, just headers to 4" dual exhaust and then out the back... it sounds like a dragster and is definately not street legal.... (sound only)

Its got what looks to be 2 inch pipes. The motor has headers, performer rpm intake and a holley 600 double pumper with mechanical secondaries. The only thing im doing to it later down the road is a 280 duration, 480 lift cam.

I have mine running out in front of the rear tires, with 40-series Flowmasters under the cab. Now that the lowering is done, I want to run exhaust pipes to the rear, but that's gonna take a whole new system, from the header collectors all the way, including relocating the mufflers and adding an X-pipe.

won't that burn up some valves or something? It's good for a bit but long term may have some effects on your engine. My .05 (crv inflation)

Leave it stock till you can get some new exhaust.. imo. I cant stand loud vehicles that cant back it up

the ones I have seen have been surpisingly well mannered. at idle they sound good and at normal throttle they sound oddly "not loud" but put your foot in it and it will hollar at you.

to my understanding bigger pipes= more resonating . 2'' should sound fine.

prolly gonna' run straight on mine or maybe a long glasspack exhaust.

I'd run glasspacks.I think the straights would garner some attention,probably from the chicks but most assuredly from the "Silver Star Brigade".

you won't burn a valve... that's a bunch of bogus crap there. I ran a POS Chevy Citation back in high school with nothing but a bare manifold. Ran it like that pretty much the whole time i had it. I think that was a good 6 or 8 months. No problems at all.
Personally, I think a straight piped engine sounds like crap unless it is wound up to 5 grand at a minimum.
I also think you'd get a ticket in no time
I also think you'd get in trouble the next day too.
I also think it gives hot rodders a REAL BAD name to cruise around being THAT obnoxious. We have a hard enough time as it is with johnny tree-hugger, and politicians LOVE making laws that reduce our fun... why offer them another reason?
Cut off the quiet mufflers, and add a couple wall mart cherry bombs, or turbo muffs. You'll make some noise without p!ssing off everyone in town.
