Manual or auto steering coulmn?

I want to get rid of my b&m megashifter in my truck and use the columnshifter as it supposed to be! :-) Some previous owner removed the shift lever and as i can see,cut off the connector arm thing on the column wich the linkage from the gearbox should connect to. Or do i have a manual steering column? Is it possible to weld a arm back?

Looks like a 3 speed standard column . There is no park position arm . Find you a automatic factory column or later model column.

Is this on your yellow one? What is the availability of parts in Sweden?

Re: Manual or auto steering coulmn?

This is on my yellow one. Avability for parts are rather good, but i usually order from usa.

Well, seems like i have to order a new tilt auto column then! :-) Wich is the best one? Direct fit? I've been looking at flaming river and ididit.

When i change my steering column to an aftermarket one, ill have to fabricate new mounts for the parkingbrake handle, right?

I personally don't have any experience with either one, so someone else will have to speak to that question. You might want to touch base with member KevsClassics about a tilt column.

Re: Manual or auto steering coulmn?

Anyone see an issue on how I used the 3 speed manual to control my automatic 4L60e?

(Short of the mechanical lockout issue)

(I'll be using the nuetral safety and reverse light switch mechanism from the 4L60e (04' silverado 5.3)

Re: Manual or auto steering coulmn?

I don't see an issue as long as you can select all the positions. Utilizing the neutral safety is a good idea.

Re: Manual or auto steering coulmn?

Hello,
I got a 70s era column shifter from a friend and I've been modding (cut and weld) the original mount with the newer mount to get the park brake handle to fit. It wasnt that much work. Can also use same steeringwheel.
