Cargo light in 1969??

I know that a cargo light was part of the CST/Cheyenne package from 1970-1972. How about 1969? I saw one in an assembly manual but have also seen a few 69 CST's here local without them. What do your 69 CST's have?

Re: Cargo light in 1969??

the early 69's didn't get the cargo lamp or headliner in teh CST package. Mid production run it became avalible, as did the lamp on it's own. I did a poll on here years ago about this, and hardly anyone had any documentation of when there trucks were built (the sticker in the drivers door jamb wismissing on most who responded) but it seems to corrospond with the mid year papers that ChevLoRay just quoted.

Re: Cargo light in 1969??

my 69 has it. Only date code I found is from the jack instructions. For some reason it's a 67.

look in the drivers side door inner panel... by the latch on the door. Should be a blue sticker that has the VIN and federal safty disclaimer.

Re: Cargo light in 1969??

when i was a kid, back in '69, my parents ordered a '69 CST short fleet, 2wd and it had a cargo light. i was ordered in the summer of '69 so it was a late .69 model.

Re: Cargo light in 1969??

yep, if it was ordered in the summer, it was towards the last of the 69's built.

Re: Cargo light in 1969??

The jacking instructions would not have changed, so having them with the date showing 1967 ain't no biggee and should be correct. I mean, how could it could be any different, from '67 to '72? Unless someone just got anal, what difference would it make?

My '69, on the other hand, was an earlier edition. I can't verify anything on it as being so, except the seat cushion had a metal tag that has the date 09-10-68, on it. So I know my truck was built sometime after that date. Since all of the serial numbers from St. Louis started at 800001, my truck is the 12,417th one built out of all of the trucks built for '69, at St. Louis. Each plant had a different starting number. I don't know how many trucks St. Louis built for '69, so having this info maybe moot.

Re: Cargo light in 1969??

the St Lois number is not quite right.
All plants started the sequential number at 100001. If that assembly plant had the same type vehicle (trucks in this case) rolling down a second assembly line, then assembly line #2 started the sequential number as 800001. so your truck is the 12,417th off assembly line #2.
That is still a very low production number, and possibly built in late 68.
