Liguid Wrench

Hey guys, it's time to remove the old lower control arms on my son's 69 Chevelle. The nuts are really rusted, I've always used Liquid Wrench. What do you guys use? Thanks.

Re: Liguid Wrench

I like PB Blaster...just soak the nuts everyday 3 or 4 days in a row.

pb blaster. If that dont work I will use a cutting torch. Diesel fuel and transmission fluid also works well.

Re: Liguid Wrench

KROIL is my favorite!

BTW--Feeling for ya...those nuts can be incredibly tough to get loose
(I had to take my trucks to a fe shop to get them apart).

Re: Liguid Wrench

A good shot of Liquid Wrench and tap pretty hard on the nut to set up a vibration, repeat 3-4 times, tighten it a hair to break it, loosen it & remove.

Re: Liguid Wrench

PB blaster, tighten a little then loosen it with a breaking bar and a piece of pipe for more torque.

Re: Liguid Wrench

My favorite is Kroil, but it is a bit hard to find. Lately I have been using some freeze spray. I freeze the nut, then torch it. The cool/heat cycle helps break up the crud and rust. One nut that would not budge just turnred off after my cool/heat cycle. Works for me.

Re: Liguid Wrench

This stuff. Kimball Midwest Torq CB 2 Corrosion Blasting Penetrating Oil.
I don't know how easy it is to get but our mechanics at work use it & it's the most amazing stuff I've ever seen! it cuts through rust in seconds. the bad part is it smells like vanilla. You want desert every time you spray it Besides you know it's got to be good if California outlawed it!

Re: Liguid Wrench

Pb blaster and liquid wrench work great. Nothing compares to the torch though. A little heat will make your life 1000 times easier.

I've been using this stuff since I read that thread and it works excellent. It just stinks pretty bad though.
