Re: Drip Rail Sealant ?
I would use seam sealer, I believe that's is about all anyone uses, and what the factory used. When it comes to seam sealer there are alot of options, some better than others.

Re: Drip Rail Sealant ?
The previous owner used some kind of sealer to fill in the channel above the windshield on my '70 - then painted over it with the two part catalyzed urethane - this was about 3 or four years ago - he must not have chosen the right stuff because it has cracks beginning to open up and not just in the paint.
Sorry I can't tell you what he used or why it cracked so I'm not much help there but I can suggest that whatever you use is going to stand up to the heat/cold cycling and ultraviolet and or infrared radiation from sunlight; and maybe has a similar coefficient of expansion as both your sheet metal steel and whatever paint you end up using. I wonder if auto body lead solder might be better in that location? Probably 3M has something easier in an elastomer. |

Re: Drip Rail Sealant ?
3M makes a seam sealer that is sandable and paintable.

3M Seam Sealer, at any auto paint supply company. That's what I used.

Re: Drip Rail Sealant ?
I can tell you what not to use - dynatron 550 seam sealer. Not self leveling, not user friendly, not easily sandable as it says.
I have to grind it all out and switch to something self leveling |
