A family member of mine died a couple years ago, and left me a '74 cheyenne super/10 suburban estate. I have always loved this truck,or obsessed, depending on who you ask. Everything in it is bone stock (and mostly in factory fresh condition). it has a 454, auto trans, and towing package (from the factory), and every other option available at that time.. original paint (2 tone, grecian bronze and wood), without a stratch or rust any where, orginal interior in perfect condition, automatic rear window (working) and has 112k miles on it, the air conditioner still works GREAT! i am not willing or even thinking about selling it, or any part of it. i am curious how much its worth, and how come i can't find any other trucks like it. was it a rare truck? or what?

hopefully soon though..... thanks anyway, and hopefully i will be able to post some pics soon. have you ever heard of the truck before? i have been looking and looking and haven't found any like it.

I`ve rarely seen the woodgrain.It`s been many years.In the rustbelt,most 73-77s are long gone.

I'm not sure what you mean by "anything like it". Are you referring to the color? I'm not sure if I've seen a burb that year with woodgrain exterior, if that's the exterior finish of your truck. Or are you saying "estate" is part of the model designation? If so, I've never heard or seen anyone of those either. Is there anything different about the body or interior besides finish? I'm not too familiar with these years (73+), but 72 and earlier "supers" added woodgrain on dash bezels, glovebox, door panel, exterior molding and maybe some other additional options. Looking forward to see pictures. Sounds like you inherited a real nice, well taken care of suburban.

I think the "estate" refers to the woodgrain on the sides.

I saw a LB pickup today with woodgrain sides in between the upper and lower moldings. I didn't see the decals because it was pulled into a driveway, but the woodgrain was worn, showing something like aluminum underneath it. It seems most of the original stock 2wd trucks are kept or restored by the 67-72 group. I noticed the 73-87 group have more modified 2wd trucks than stock trucks and I agree the modified ones look better in this group. But, if I had one like jwb described, I'd probably try to keep it stock as long as possible.

When the woodgrain fades, it turns white. I kind of remember them when they were newer. The carpenter that did a lot of work on my grandparents house had a 73 or 74 with the woodgrain trim. Also bigblock73's 77 Blazer had the woodgrain trim.
