New Guy with a 62...

Got this little guy for 500 bucks from a city guy. Brought him out to the country to live out his days. I'm gonna keep the paint, cause I think it flows, get some baby moons, maybe lower it a bit, sled it out, and bag it after I get my shop built after taxes. I'm in Kaufman, Texas. Between Dallas and Athens. Looking for someone in the area to pick brains with, and help each other out. Just wanted to wave hello to everyone, and enjoy all the help and pics!

Welcome from OK. Is that a small back window I saw to the left of those speedbumps? Good luck with the build.

Re: New Guy with a 62...

Yeah, it's a 65 donor I picked up. Not much to donate, but it was free, got a motor and tranny in it though. straight 6. One of those deals, where I asked what they were doing with it and they wanted it hauled off. Gotta love that!

Re: New Guy with a 62...

Out with the old, in with the newer old! The post wasn't up 5 min, and I got 3 pm's asking for parts. Figured I'd edit and kill that bird quick. Plus no one else is gonna buy me parts for the Chevy, gotta make something from them. I've moved on from VW's some still haven't.....They'll learn! The pic is of the truck, I didn't think it'd be classified as a classified, if it was in the background of a picture, and people asked me about it.

Re: New Guy with a 62...

Yup, People have already been asking..lol. I'm in need of a picture... I need a picture of the brackets holding the radiator. The core was out when I got it, and the shroud is gone. I can fab the shroud, but I don't see the same holes as my 65 on the core support. I can maybe fab those too, but wanted to see what they looked like, and if they were just a C-channeled holder style clamp.

Thanks in advance, Doc

Welcome from Astoria, OR! I dig the patina on that truck. You got the right idea by keeping it that way. Maybe some Wide Whites?...

Re: New Guy with a 62...

THANKS CHIEF!!! That's EXACTLY what I needed. I'm missing that whole bottom tray and the top clamp. Now I have a starting point to go by at least. Were there rubber gromits in the bottom catches? Surely it didn't just sit in those and rub. Thanks again!!

Re: New Guy with a 62...

Chief, The bottom bracket on mine is different. I've posted pics. I cant tell of any past brackets, same with the top, no holes. I was just gonna weld in a "C" purlin and clamp on top. The bracket from the 65 as shown in pic, sits the radiator too far back. I guess what's throwing me for a loop is no evidence of a past bracket what so ever.

Re: New Guy with a 62...

Thanks for the props Pro....you gotta sweet ride there yourself! Thanks for your service!! I'm gonna keep it stock with a little lower stance for a while. I'm having my shop built here in 2 weeks, so we'll have a house to play in after that.

Yes...there were grommets in the catches, which I still have along with the top clamp, like you have.

My truck was originally the small 6 cyl (170HP) I think....Most V8 trucks use the larger radiator directly behind the core support with a shorter clamp.

I used my tiny sixer raditor on my 350 with no cooling problems what so ever...just wanted a nicer rad.
