Suspension Exchange for a 62 GMC

I have a 62 GMC K10. It needs new leaf springs but you can not find them for a 62, and expensive to have custom build. I what to try and take the suspension from an earlier truck and put it on mine, so I can buy new leaf springs. I just want to get some feed back and see if anyone has done this before.

Re: Suspension Exchange for a 62 GMC

I took a 76 chevy 4x4 and used all the spring hangers and springs on my 61 4x4. I was in the same position as you and finally did it. It makes a world of difference for the better. Check out this thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=333036

Your thread is great. I would like to keep my original axles. Do you think there would be a problem? Did you just go to a junk yard and cut the spring hangers off?

Re: Suspension Exchange for a 62 GMC

I bought a bare frame for a $100. Took an air chisel and a grinder to take out the factory rivits. I see no reason why you couldnt use the original axles.
