54 Bed on a 49 Chassis

Putting a 54 Bed on my 49 chassis is an important part of this build. I understand the difference in the frame rails and I know there is more than one way to make this combination work. I would like an opinion on what is the best way.

Raising the bed floor isn't my first choice. Adding tubs probably creates issues I am not yet aware of. There are taller beds available but I not sure how that helps. Any advice?

Re: 54 Bed on a 49 Chassis

tri2, I put a 54 bed on my 50 frame. All I did was remove 2" from the hump over rear axle (have to weld in support pieces, etc). Then put bed in position with running boards, rear fenders attached to check fit. Will have to make up you own spacers between bed and frame. Stock one are to tall, 54 are to short. Nothing hard, check out page 1 of my build it shows what I did. Any questions let me know...Jim

Your build thread is library of good ideas, I may use more than just the trim on the chassis. Thanks, I may have questions as I get further into this.
