Faulty flex line in CPP disc brake kit

Ok, so after a few months of my rig being out at my father in laws house, doing the full front drop spindle, disc brake conversion, the only thing holding me back from being roadworthy is the passenger side flex line leaking. We couldn't bleed the front brakes because there was no vacuum from air getting in. Put the compressor to the front steel line off the prop valve. And heard the air coming out of the banjo fitting on the line.. measuring it with the micrometer, it is about .010 difference, making it slanted and not a good bite, even in the copper washers, you can see it's not fully seated.. summit says they're back ordered and i cant get a replacement until end of December..

My question is, can i just run a fatter copper washer? Or sonce the fitting is most likely jacked, do i have to wait for the replacement?? I just want to drive my baby since its been almost 8 months thanks for the help guys!

Sounds like a trip to the parts store is in order. If you us a factory style line for a 73 and up truck you have to tweek the bend at the banjo bolt just a bit. I have done this on both my trucks.

Re: Faulty flex line in CPP disc brake kit

I ran into a similar issue with my brake hoses from CPP but the reason mine leaked was because the line was on the caliper backwards. It wasn't off by much but it was enough to cause all kinds of problems bleeding the brakes. Flipped it around with new copper washers and it was all better.

Jimmy, so thats the one with a longer angled brass fitting, correct??

Scoot, which side did you put on the caliper? It looks as though it should only fit one way..

Re: Faulty flex line in CPP disc brake kit

I felt kinda dumb for doing it the other way but the flat side goes to the caliper. The little tab on my hoses didn't stick out very far beyond the copper washer so I didn't catch it until bleeding time when I had a small leak.

Quick question, did the kits you guys got come with 2 sets of washers? Mine has a thin and a thicker set. I started with the thin set, should i try the thicker one?

Check your hoses as well, there may be a "stepped" side under the banjo fitting.

Awesome, glad that fixed the leak!

I'm not sure on why the proportioning valve won't let you bleed the system. Are you using the brake pedal to bleed the system?

My buddy has a Harbor Freight bleeder that didn't work well for me so we ended up doing it the old fashioned way.
