Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

After we sold my Peterbilt, we needed a heavy haul truck. The boys in our shop went out back and brought a rollover tractor, a dump truck and a single axle tractor, into the shop and built this out of the three trucks. They took it down to the bare frame rails and started back up. It obviously hasn't been to the paint shop yet but it turned out good. 60 Series Detroit w/jake brake and a 13 speed.

I haven't driven it yet but a driver took a load of steel over to NW Arkansas Friday and said it runs good.

I would never guess that was three trucks. Is that a set back front end? I know it won't be done till it's red.

They are pretty rare.

What is the GVW on it?

Also, does it still have the 478 in it?
The tag on the lower kick area says 27000 gvw and it does have the 478 with a 5 speed clark tranny in it with 2 speed rear, possibly a highway tractor when new, there is a air line valve bolted to the back of the cab that has been disconected. Found a 1965 Chevy C60 flatbed yesterday out at a old body shop, gonna get some pics today,I also have a older twin boom Holmes 600 wrecker body,so maybe another build for the brother of the GMC,lol

You are going to like that 478. Tons of Torque. You won't have trouble towing anything with it. I used to drive a '62 6500, 16 Ft Flatbed Dump. I would haul 20,000 Lbs like nothing. I even pulled a fully loaded Freight Car with it once (Railroad didn't line it up right with the dock). I had the same thing, 5-Speed Clark with a 2-Speed Rear.

Keep us posted on it.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Cool old Mack popped up on the C/L

https://portland.craigslist.org/yam/...109389225.html

1958 Classic Mack Service Truck
Probably not what you have in mind to start a business, but this truck is functional as a new truck. It will get you to the job for much less than the cost of a new service truck. It has a unique look, nobody is going to mistake you for a different mechanic, its going to need welder work and it will need an air compressor. It has a 200 gallon aux fuel tank. It has two aux oil tanks and multiple tool boxes.
Runs and drives great

Similar vintage Kenworth. Fire fighters special. Not mine but a cool old truck.

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...117538154.html

Protect your property from fire. Appropriately named "Zaphire," has a Cummins NH-220 motor, 5 & 4 Brownie Transmission, Jake Brake, 3800 gallon aluminum tank, Stand away, gas powered, high pressure, high volume, fire pump(not PTO driven). Comes with 6 inch fill hoses with strainer for creekside pick up and has 1.5 inch fire hose and reel. Currently located in Post, Oregon near Prineville, and will be available to see in June. Contact me for details.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Not sure the year of this truck. It is at the dealership I used to work at. The business was turned over to the great grandsons of the original owner. They now are selling used construction equipment. Larry the grandpa is in his 80s. The truck apparently was used by Dave Marcus. In the 70s. It is Really nice.

Right, I can see what looks like the side emblem of where a '65 emblem would be located as well as seeing no emblem where the '64 and '66 emblem would be at.

I didn't know they had rappers back in '63 but they sure hired one for this film

Not many restored 60 66 lcf, I wonder if people are starting to show more interest in them? Good parts scarce. Still need oem stakebed or something close for mine.

The Orange Dodge sounds great. If the other truck has a Detroit, I can't even hear it.

I believe I posted this video in the Detroit Diesel Videos thread. Probably the twin 6" straight stacks drowned out the muffled truck. It would be nice to know what is in each truck. I assumed both had Detroits
