Stock. Actually I've seen a number of guys use the '88 to '98 seat. It is wide against the doors but seems very workable. I test fit one once and felt it would work, but then someone offered to buy the seat so it left.

I tend toward buckets myself.

I'm running 88+ in my son's '54. Used the stock mount and fabbed up some brackets to put the seat on it. Works great so far.

Gotta mid '90s model Dodge Dakota bench seat, it is the same width as a stock 47-54.

Re: What type of bench seat is everyone using for AD pickups?

The seat width you want to find is 55". The best option I have found are the second or third row bench seats from Chevy Astro or GMC Safari minivans. The higher end models have benches with arm rests and folding console. They also have integrated seat belts although the third row only has the right side (passenger) belt mounted to the seat.

The image I attached shows the style in the higher end Astro vans.

Re: What type of bench seat is everyone using for AD pickups?

If the truck isn't chopped, a nicely redone stock seat is probably the most comfortable in the long run. I had that the first time I built the truck in 1973 and it was one of those seats that you could drive 500 miles in a day on and not have any aches and pains.
That Astro van seat in post 5 minus the head rests looks like it would look good in a truck though and probably be comfortable for lots of miles.
Because my cab is going to be modified every whichway from Sunday this time around I am going with some really comfortable all electric buckets but they wouldn't fit in a stock cab.
I've got a mid 70's (I think) Dodge ST Regis seat in it now and that is like sitting on a board bench with no padding and while it looks presentable it is the most uncomfortable thing ever made. But it was cheap and in good shape when I got it.

Re: What type of bench seat is everyone using for AD pickups?

Im using a front seat out of a olds cierra. mounted a 1/8 piece of sheet metal on the stock seat riser of the floor. The mounts on the seats are flat so all I had to do was remove the head rest & drill & bolt them in. The seat belts worked well also.

I am not finished but mine is out of a 2003 gmc safari van...I used aluminum plate to mount to
the top of the stock railing..the seat is 55 inches and the good thing is it
lets you lean back and be farther from the steering wheel...also has drink holder and arm rest....very comfy! Tim

Ive got a thirdrow out of a sub or tahoe in mine, it is a tad short but plan to build some filler peices in the cab corners for the stereo stuff so should work just right for what Im trying to do. BTW love your truck! Nice tire and wheel choice!

Re: What type of bench seat is everyone using for AD pickups?

I have used anything from stock for that year and up. the best fit I ever had was a 96 s10 blazer split 40/60 bench. I have used them seats in several project trucks I have built, the latest is a 48 International KB5 witch is not far off from the chevy cab inside mesurments. but any s10 bench works about the same!

Smittys50, Is this seat more narrow then the stock seat? Were you able to use the Olds Ciera seat adjusters?

Re: What type of bench seat is everyone using for AD pickups?

Dirty Doug Yes the seat is a little narrower than the stock seat. It is acually a split bench seat. I used the stock olds seat adjusters & seat belts. They worked out great for me. Nice & flat on the bottom. All I had to do was locate where I wanted the seat. Mounted it to my 1/8 sheet metal then mounted it all good & solid to the riser.

Re: What type of bench seat is everyone using for AD pickups?

Mine is out of a 88 full size chevy. It fits perfect!!! Some guys say that its an inch or two too wide but when I shut my doors and still have about an inch on each side of clearance. Plus, it took about 10 minutes to bolt it in. I paid 40 bucks for it at a pull and pay. I still need to paint the brackets and either recover or pick up a seat cover. Im very happy with the fit!!

good luck

Good call on the Durango seat. I've got the second row out of one. Nice fold down arm rest with cup holders. Folding and tip up base for easy access.
