Smile Jonesing for a 2wd Suburban!

I've been looking and looking and can't really find anything near me that I want.

Ideally I'd like a 90-91 2wd with power mirrors, straight with no rust. If I can score that to work with I'd be happy!

I did find a nice one, but its one of those darned conversions with the leather and woodgrain and I'm just not into all that...

I want a nice cool lowrider to cruise with, pull a pop up and run the air this summer.... till then I'm going to keep searching..

Re: Jonesing for a 2wd Suburban!

This guy has been trying to sell this truck on ebay for months, he's trying to get $5500 for it. Very clean. He changed the woodgrain dash trim for the brushed aluminum looking stuff and put an S10 steering wheel on it, but otherwise one sweet truck - I'd like to have it myself.

If that wasn't a diesel I'd be giving it a real hard look! I do have to admit.. red is my least favorite color for the interior.. but if everything else is right, the red wouldn't stop me...

I never thought much of the 6.2 until I bought my military Blazer. Power is more than adequate and the fuel mileage is fantastic. I'd be all over that truck if I could.

I'm afraid of not being able to work on it.. or it being really expensive to fix. But I dont know squat about diesels.

I found the perfect one in Houston but its pricey, and I'm 700 miles away from it...

Re: Jonesing for a 2wd Suburban!

Hey Tony! You might want my Burban after I'm done with it. It's a 1990 3/4T 2WD with a TBI454 and soon backed by a 700R4. I bought it with a cheesy burgundy paint job and tan interior. I since bought another 90 Burban with flawless dark blue interior. I'll be re-doing it in two-tone white/silver with a double blue pinstripe buried in the clear. I love those 89-90 Burbans too.

Hey Jabin! I'm not too big on the 3/4 ton models.. too gas thirsty! lol but if your 90 with dark blue is a 2wd 1/2 ton set me up with it! Des Moines is just a day trip away.

Re: Jonesing for a 2wd Suburban!

That diesel clatter is addictive if you give it a chance and the mpgs are crazy. Power/torque-wise the 6.2 fell inbetween the 305 and 350 but are much more miserly on the fuel. Just a thought...

Whats the deal with the ground effect kits? Can they be removed without jacking up the paint on the body?

Re: Jonesing for a 2wd Suburban!

Well the 1990 Burb I have that is 2-tone silver/blue is getting parted out-it's got some rust in some bad areas-and it only a half ton. That thing sways like a carnival cruis eship compared to my 3/4 ton one. Is the one in your sig. yours, Tony? Like in my 80 Cutlass, I plan on installing automated electric climate control and auto headlights in my Burban. Seriously tho-nobody drivers one with a concern for gas mileage-besides even with a TBI454 and a 700R4, it shouldn't be too bad.
Hey-this one is near me-I could check it out for ya-wheels ain't my thing but if the truck is clean....?

Re: Jonesing for a 2wd Suburban!

Here's this one...I seen it in person about 5 years ago-literally a show quality paint finish that was sold @ a small town estate auction...went for sumthin like $1500 bucks and has been at a couple of small car lots around town over the last few years. It has grey interior, 350 Goodwrench motor, rebuilt trans, suspension, 100% redone by the original owner before it got sold at an estate. Not sure how it's held up but 5 years ago this truck was way too nice to be a daily driver-inside and outside was flawless. I could check it out for ya too. First time I seen it at a lot after it sold from an estate, they were asking $5500 for it. This truck had new GM weatherstrip seals, fenders, hood, etc. when it was painted several years ago. I was painting an 84 Monte in my shop when my friend showed up with his buddy who bought this for $1500-he later traded it in at a car lot. It's been priced kinda high ever since so not sure of the shape now....might be worth getting...? idk...it's a 1/2-ton 2WD truck.

You should be able to fly Southwest in for really cheap, and drive it home.

Re: Jonesing for a 2wd Suburban!

Personally...I'd like a 73/74 or 75...lowered, with a 350 and working AC...but parking space is non existant in Los Angeles, and I already have 3 "projects" and my daily beater.

A flight will cost me about $350 unless I put it off 2 weeks then its $200, if he still has it by then.

Its a super nice rig but steep in price! I'm not sure I want to put all of that in up front... I'd rather buy cheaper and put in the money for a static drop on something that isn't so mint.
