Hey Guys,

New to the forum and up til now I have simply been lurking but thought I'd take a few minutes to say hi. Originally Oregon born and raised, I've been in California for the past 15 years, 12 of it in Long Beach where I currently live.

I picked up a 72 C10 a month or so ago. It's kind of a unknown as the SPID was missing..so I don't know if it's a plain c10 or something higher up the food chain. I do know that it was a long bed that was shortened and the bed appears to be a real short bed. It has a tilt wheel, originally an a/c cab, headliner. It also has inserts in the door like the cheyenne wood grain..but it's just brown...not sure if that is some homemade deal or maybe a recovered panel? First thing I did was take that foot gas pedal thing off the factory pedal...It has rust issues but runs and drives really nice. It has a 350 that sounds like it has a mild cam in it, 700r4 tranny with what feels like a shift kit. tilt wheel, a/c cab. I bought a complete heating and a/c system locally but haven't installed it yet.

I am suppose to be buying a cab, original short frame rolling chassis, shortbed, and uncut a/c dash from a guy in northern CA this weekend. Doing it long distance and put a small deposit down so if it's not a scam i'll have it by Monday..if it's a scam for the deposit I'll be bummed...

here's my truck

Welcome! Nice project you picked up. You may want to do some reading up on the 700r4 trans. It's hard to tell from the picture but the TV cable looks loose. At the bare minimum make sure that cable has no slack in it. Best of luck with your truck!

Re: New Member in the LBC

thanks guys. If my deal goes through I'll probably be moving everything to the short bed frame and using that other cab. i'll make sure I take a lot of pic's and post about it. thanks for the heads up about the TV cable. I'll check it.

Re: New Member in the LBC

One thing i can never understand is why do people want to take out the old AC boxes out of these trucks and weld up the holes.

I like AC cabs its a Option that really makes the truck work.Plus my 1971 Cheyenne has it and instead of getting heat from the floor and the defrost vents you get it out of the AC vents as well.

Plus i hate using that other system that takes my glove box away from me.

But that's me i own 9 of these truck from 1964--72 plus the 3 doors.

One last thing I like having a heater core cus if my truck ever over heats i can still drive it and get it home if i run the heater.Plus on them cold days i like the defroster

Re: New Member in the LBC

Good news....the deal went through....can't wait to set into to it. got a shortbed frame, cab, bed, tailgate, doors, fenders, cowl, lights, and a few other pieces.

jeff

this one came with a spid...

I already knew that the cab wasn't original to the frame.

I have some work ahead of me! can't wait.

I still have to formulate a game plan but my initial plan is to take the new frame and cab and move my engine/tranny, suspension, and other pieces to the new frame/cab and then sell the extra stuff once I'm done. It'll be a lot of work but I'm looking forward to it.
